Nike says they don't plan to change the buildings name. Agree or disagree?
At Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Paterno has a building named after him. That building is one of the Nike campus' child care centers, leading some to question whether Nike should change the name.
The official name of the building is the Joe Paterno Child Development Center, and Nike representatives said Wednesday night that Paterno's name will remain on the building.
According to Nike's website, the center provides on-site care for 200 children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old.

It's not like he was the one molesting the children so I see no problem with keeping his name there.

What Nike said: Joe Pa's name will stay*
*subject to change pending any potential legal outcomes.

How many kids could he have saved had he called the cops in 2002?
He would have deserved the building name at that point. Let's wait and see what happens with the legal stuff.

My wife works at the Nike daycare and they all discussed this a bit but as of now it doesn't make sense to go through the hassle of changing the name. When it opened they had a huge ceremony and all so to re-do all that and then if it comes out that JoePa did nothing wrong Nike would have freaked out over nothing so they're fine just waiting out the details before they make a rash decision.

They should just change it to the Mike Bellotti child development center.

Kind of seems to be their MO in situations like this... See Tiger, Mike Vick etc...

Lukey, you know we are boys. But you're wrong IMO. Anyone who knew any type of information about a 10 year old boy getting raped by a grown man, despite how little, should have done more than what he did. Period.
And no man like that should be honored to have a Child Development Center after him. I don't give a crap about his football success. But to be a coward and worry about his personal status instead of standing up for the truth and doing the honorable thing shows his true character. I've heard so many excuses for him, but there's nothing OK with what he did (or rather with what he didn't do).

Oh no I'm with you on a personal level. There was sign after sign for Paterno and others to know and to stop things and they didn't. He cared more about football and wins then the truth and didn't want the negative publicity. That sure came back to bit him HARD. I was just passing along the thoughts of Nike.

Nike does stick by people though you're right uodux1212. They signed Kobe well before anyone else would after the Colorado scandal.

They tried but Derek said it needed to be at least three times bigger.

Not that anyone cares but figured I'd update. Talks at Nike now are that they are strongly considering changing the name
