Friends and I were discussing this after the game and we have agreed to disagree. I said that there is no way a guy can lose by 20 and have 3 TO's on national tv and still hope to win the Heisman. I don't disagree that Andrew Luck is the best player in the country, but I think that Weeden has to be the leader at this point. My ballot would be Weeden, Luck, Richardson, Keenum, Blackmon.

Just a thought: what kind of stats would Luck put up playing for OU or OK State? Better yet, if he actually had D1 receivers?

What would it take for LMJ TO GET YOUR VOTES

LaMike would need to put up some ungodly stats against SC, the Beavs and whichever team we playing in the PAC-12 title game in order to be considered IMO. The fact that we were able to roll along even with him injured almost hurts his case to be honest. However, if he averaged, say 200+ yards and 2-3 TD's the next few weeks, then I could see him getting some votes. It would also take Luck having some bad games as well as OKie State slipping up big time for him to have a shot.

If you can plug in another guy and hit the same numbers the guy that is not in anymore looks a lot less impressive.

In my opinion Luck should still get it if he bounces back after this game…but…I do agree that the old boy from OSU should be in the lead right now.

James shouldn't lose the hesiman because his backup is also good. Ingram won it while his backup was very good as well, but I guess that only counts in the SEC and not in the Pac 12. Obviously the Pac 12 doesn't have depth.

HAHAHAHA....How are you getting that I don’t think that y’all have depth Obviously y’all have depth if your back ups are running just as good as your starter.

The year Ingram won the Heisman he played all 14 games, had 271 attempts and gained 1,678 yards. That is an average of 6.19 yards per carry. In addition to that he had 32 Receptions for 334 yards…that is a 10.4 yard average. Total TD’s were 20. Richardson…in 2009 had 147 carries for 751 yards and 8 TDs. Mark was without a doubt the main contributor that year and thus the Heisman birth and win.

In 2010 Trent carried for 112 times for 700 yards…Mark carried 158 times for 903 yards. Much more balanced, hence why he didn’t get a lot of Heisman love (that and Cam was breaking all kind of records.)


Now what I am saying is….James currently has 153 attempts for 1207 yards and 12 TD’s…impressive but since he was out two games Richardson is right on his neck and the his teammates ran wild while he was sitting out…Barner ran for an average of 13.62 yards a carry racking up 266 yards in 21 attempts and DAT racked up 123 yards on just 11 carries…what does this say to voters? That the system is producing those yards…not necessarily the player.

In contrast, do you think Luck’s backup would have generated the same numbers? No…he is their team…and LMJ (though a GREAT player) is NOT the heart and soul of the Duck’s offense....and the way I see it you can’t be the most outstanding player in college football if your back ups can come in and perform equally as well as you.

I think that anyone who has watched a lot of James running (especially this year) has to acknowledge that he earns his yards. He is constantly recovering broken plays and making yards after contact. That isn't a system thing.

You're probably right...I’ve only watched him running in three and a half games this year due to the time difference….the rest has been highlight reels. I suppose that I’m not giving him enough credit. He didn’t have a good outing against LSU and I guess my mind keeps going back to that. Not fair considering no running back has had a 100+ game against LSU this year.

I was very impressed with him before he went down against Cal and his stats are impressive considering he missed two games....ok...y'all convinced me he should get the invite.
