Prospects I think we end up with
Okay so it's early and I'm ready to move completely past the BB circus.
I think we end up taking 16-17 players in the class of 2010. Not a lot of major holes to fill outside of RB and DT which at least RB is FULL of talent close to home. Anyways with who we've offered and what I'm hearing for targets/interest I'll give you who I think we end up with. Not the complete class, but most of it, and it will likely be filled with some we have not heard about and haven't been offered yet, likely 2 or 3 JUCO players.
Who I predict we get:
QB-Jacoby Walker
RB-Ethan Grant
RB-James Mcconico
RB-Jordon James
RB- Brennan Clay
WR- Keanon Lowe
TE-Curtis White
OL-Erik Kohler
OL-Nick Rowland
DE-Owamagbe Odighizuwa
DE-Alex Turner
DT-George Uko
DB-Tony Grimes
S-John Timo
S-Ted Meline
Ones to watch:
WR-Austin Hill
QB-Robert Bolden-rated higher on our board than Walker, however I think he stays closer to home in MI.
JC DT-Justin Niutapaui offers from Nebraska and Tenn already. 3 to play 2. In California
LB-Soma Vainuku-video interview on scout spends the first 20 seconds talking about Oregon and his high interest. Likely a Duck if he gets the offer. Says he's 6'1 258 lbs. right now. Wants to play MLB.
Anyways this class has the makings to be really special. Lots of star power. Lots of talent.
Go get em Chip. Go Ducks.

Solid list, most those guys are very possible.
I'd drop Kohler and Owa though.. Owa will leave the state, and Kohler will go to a pac-10 school but my money is on ND or Stanford.

Do you mean Brennen Clay at RB, not Michael? Otherwise great list.

Re: Prospects I think we end up with
Good catch Dthom- meant Brennan Clay.
Honestly I think we have a better chance with Owa than we do with McCartney right now. Got a feeling Ivan ends up at Miami. I do think Owa is possibly the longest shot on the list, but lately I'm hearing the chances are improving here lately, I bet with a couple more upper end commitments he may gain more interest. Still a battle.
OL Rowland and Kohler are leans elsewhere, but I know we'll take two and right now those are the most likely of who we have offered. Probably end up with 2 OL that have not been named yet.
I did pick 4 RB's but that is becuase Clay and Grant have some versatility and other than Lowe I don't like the chances of any of the WR targets outside of Tyler Slavin if we offer.

I think we'll try hard to get at least two WRs

Re: Prospects I think we end up with
No way Oregon takes 4 RB's, with this small of a class. Oregon doesn't want to end up like UW under Nuweasal (Tons of skill players but no o-line or d-line). Balancing a class is so much more important to having future success than ending up with a top 25 rated class.

Re: Prospects I think we end up with
Hate to sound lazy. But, do you have the stars handy for these guys? Don't want to look each one up individually. I know stars aren't everything. But, I want to get a general sense of the class relative to others.
4 RBs in one class? I think that might be tough to swing unless some are willing to red-shirt.
I'd like to see 2 QB's in that class.

Re: Prospects I think we end up with
4 RB's is not a crazy idea, and we will take at least 1 OL probably 2.
RB's remaining after this year's graduation:
LaMichael James & maybe Chris Harper
Would not surprise me if we found a JUCO RB this year to get by and then take two or three HS RB's.
I do think we would like to get 2 WR's but right now outside of Slavin and Lowe I don't see anyone with enough genuine interest.
I know the Ducks are really high on Markeith Ambles and McCartney but I'm not putting my money on green with them.

I hate to keep correcting you but we will have Remene Alston after this next year too.jhopduck wrote:4 RB's is not a crazy idea, and we will take at least 1 OL probably 2.

Nope, you're exactly right and I knew that too, I just brainfarted completely.
Either way James/Alston/maybe Harper is not our ideal RB depth chart.
IMO we take at least 3 RB's.

Most of the highlight's I've seen of Vainuku are of him running the ball. Any chance we offer him as an RB? Not sure if he's fast enough but he would definately bring the thunder to Grant's lightning.
