Portland's come up in discussions for MLB several times, but the popular opinion in the business is that they wouldn't be able to support a team playing 70 home games and that the weather is too unpredictable. Not sure if I agree, but that's the argument against MLB in Portland. To be even a modestly successful franchise a team would need to draw about 25,000 fans per game and Portland isn't considered a big enough market unfortunately
