Another Florida WR with Oregon Interest

Oregon has made quite an impression nationally, as the Ducks 2010 class looks to include players from a variety of different state, including Florida. Miami Central High School wide receiver, Josh Reese, is a prime example. The Miami native doesn't currently hold an offer, but feels one could be in the works.

If Oregon offered, where would they stand among those schools?

"The top. They would stand at the top -- me and my quarterback (Jeffrey Godfrey) talk about that -- and [they] were in [our] top five. So that would really [put them] at the top."

offers: "UCF, USF, Tennessee, FIU, Florida, and Florida State."

Wow that's pretty cool. To be at the top for a kid who is from Florida & has offers from UF & FSU....that just blows me away. Wonder if the ducks will offer.

Florida "sort of" offered. Meaning it was a verbal offer and it's not a committable one right now.
I was wondering about that offer and ours as well. Doesnt add all the way up IMO. Thanks for the input Luke.

What a terrible year to be short on scholarships.

So Luke S, this is obviously your neighborhood. Reese mentions that Oregon offering puts them at the top, and it's heavily rumored that he and Godfrey (his QB) want to play together and both have Oregon in the top group. Do you have any knowledge about this?
Also what would this do to our chances with Brandon Gainer? (RB)
Thanks in advance for your info.

they say godfrey has what it takes to play qb. but we all know CK is very picky. sounds like we are picking up steam on david perry too. 4 or 5 FL commits may change everyone's view on national recruiting a bit.
thanks for the insight duckyfan.

Great info too Luke S.
I know that Miami is loaded at WR and will be very selective of who they take/offer at that position. Not sure if that will impact Reese or not. I know McCartney is on the bubble with a Miami offer too since he is a WR.
What would be nice about what you mention with Godfrey and Oregon being a match is if CK sees enough in him we can afford the "project" at QB right now with so many guys on staff and a bonafide player in Darren Thomas being young. Godfrey could get a year or two to work on mechanics, refine his craft. That may help us.
What I like about Gainer is we can really use a bruiser as we like that 1-2 and I see most of Oregon's targets being the smaller shiftier backs like Ethan Grant. We'll need a "Blount" like back as well.

Any QB that comes to Oregon will sit for at least 2 years minimum so like jhop said, Oregon can afford to take a "project". What we can't afford is to take a project at DE.
You can't count on not needing to use a 4th or 5th string QB sometime during any given game/season :|

I don't get how all of the sudden these florida kids have a serious interest in the O.
I'm not complaining at all, but it's just a little curious how we couldn't get a kid from florida to look at us a few years ago, now they're all over us haha

Prime Time.

We've played a lot of national games on TV the past few years and we are an exciting team to watch.

Not to mention the beatdown of USF in Florida two years ago and then the Holiday bowl was the highest viewed show that week when it was on.
Also CK spent a lot of time in Florida last year. He probably wasn't just recruiting 09 players.
Our coverage of this year is SO much better, we should really be rolling after a few good showings.
