In terms of star ratings, we are 23rd. But since we have fewer commits than most schools, we are only ranked 43rd overall.

I think we need to land a few of the big time recruits that are still considering Oregon to be considered a top 25 class. The class certainly got better today.

This type of rankings are fun to watch, however, for myself at least I dont even look at them until the canvas has been fully painted. Still lots of white spots left in the painting of the 2009 class.

You really have to wait and see which recruits qualify before you can even begin to rank classes.

When it all said and done (after the Ducks land Brown, Boyd, Harris, Gaines, Johnson and maybe some other suprise guys) the Ducks end up with a top 15 class (maybe top 10)

Amen to that. I don't really care about the shoulda, woulda, coulda's...it's the ones that put on the uni's that matter.

The luster definitely is somewhat tarnished when the highlight reel player(s) of a recruiting class fails to qualify...

BB will definately increase our preseason ranking because of the potential combo of BB and LB. If we get this guy, I can't wait for 3 more years of another great running back.

Our line on both sides of the ball need to have some seriously good play to keep that ranking up there.

I would consider us to be much higher than 43rd.

I really don't like these rankings. They are just a formula and not an actual evaluation of talent, just how many players, etc..

Most of our recruits are JC though. I think we will jump up significantly after we get some of these high rated freshman. A lot of people do not consider a class of half JC to be that great. I lot of people pointed their fingers at the JC recruiting when Nebraska started its demise.

I have a lot of high hopes for these freshman that have not signed YET. I never thought that Pryor was going to commit to us but I do have a good feeling about this years questionables. I think that Brown, Boyd, Harris, and Hall are coming.
With Brown liking the system and knowing Harper and Boyd, he has to come to Oregon.

Not in detail, but here's what scout says about their system:

ABOUT OUR TEAM RANKINGS Scout.com team football recruiting rankings are based on the Talent, Need and Balance of players committed to that school. We consider only players who have made a Verbal or Soft Verbal commitment to that school. We include high school, prep school and junior college players in our analysis.

Talent - This category reflects the quality of players committed to that school. Teams must recruit difference-makers throughout their class to obtain a high ranking.
Need - This is analysis of whether the team needs are being met at each position. This value is capped per position type (i.e., a team does not receive extra credit for overloading at a position).
Balance - Teams must be represented at every position by players of each body type. Securing balance in every recruiting class is a necessity due to the injuries and attrition that are part of college football.
