Ovett will ru for Oregon..Really!!!

Oregon has signed two outstanding middle distance runner, Richard Goodman ( UK ) and Freddy Ovett ( Australia ) This is probably not big news to the young Ducks on this site but to the vets it is unbelievable that Steve Ovett's son will wear yellow and green. This is the equivalent another Dungy/Long athlete celebrity connection.
British runners Seb Coe and Steve Ovett ruled the middle distances world each setting world records. Coe ultimately gained the upper hand setting three world records and beating Ovett until the 1980 Moscow Olympic. Ovett ran a brilliant race to beat Coe and claim the Gold.
During this time Eamonn Goglan ( Ireland ) destroyed the indoor mile records and Steve Scott ( USA ) set the American mile record. It was a magic time for middle distance fans. Steve Prefontaine died in 1975 at age 24. He would have been in his prime by 1980 and could have added lightening to the middle distance competition with Ovett, Coe, Coglan and Scott.
