Not a whole bunch mentioned, just says we're in his top group and he liked our facilities and talking to our staff and athletes.

Great! Thanks for posting. Nice to hear that Oregon is "definitely in the mix" and that distance is not a factor.

The kid did trip here on his own dime and we've pulled two recruits from Georgia that have panned out in Roper and Embry (we also got the one o-lineman that left the program - truelove, I believe).

I can see what Greg is saying. It's so early in the recruiting process, that I'm not sure it's a good thing James visited Oregon so early.

If he wants to, he can still use one of his official visits to visit Oregon again in the future.

I see the kid tripping on his own dime this early as nothing but positive. Does he pick us in the end? Well, I don't know but our chances clearly got better. Don't let yourself be jaded people. We recruit approximately 20 - 25 kids (less this year) annually and throw out hundreds of offers. There is rejection involved with recruiting. The possibility goes up with distance.

I can't think of one bad thing that can come from a kid being so interested in a school that they willingly pay their own way to come see it early.
