She deserves to go to jail for twice as long as he did. That is some dirty dirty money they're sitting on now. Unreal

Disgusting. I hope he's able to at least get a free ride to USC on an academic scholarship. He'll never get back those years that he spent in prison, but it would be nice if he'd at least have an opportunity to get a free education.

As for the girl, not only should she go to prison, but she should also have to pay back that $1.5 million + interest to the Long Beach school district. Long Beach is really strapped for money and it's awful that she was able to pull a con job like that.

Fraud, false imprisonment, perjury, providing false information to a law enforcement officer, collusion, and blackmail... Name the felonies (Some of them federal) involved in this situation.

A lot of former inmates would have snapped her little neck on the first meeting.

My thoughts exactly.

If she doesn't get punished for anything she did, then the justice system would be even more screwed up in this country.

"Prosecutors also said they didn't immediately know if she might be prosecuted for making the false accusation when she was 15."

Yet the prosecutors were more than willing to base their entire rape case on the statements of a 15 year old.

I suppose the issue is whether she can be tried as an adult for false statements made as a minor child. In either case, if the City has not already filed a prejudgment motion to attach any remaining settlement funds from the civil suit, every city employee with a JD degree should be fired.

Absolutely disgusting.

This whole thing is horseshit. If she isn't tossed in jail for an equal amount of time (or hopefully more) and forced to repay the $1.5 mil to Long Beach as well as a Civil judgement to Banks because she was 15 when she made the claim then I will have lost the little respect and faith I have in the justice system. He should also sue the crap out of the DA as well as his public defender/the city whom provided him that public defender. Reading the facts of the case, this case should have never reached trial and she should have been charged with false statements back in 2002. She changed her story multiple times and absolutely none of it made sense. Stories like this are the reason that people brush stories of sexual assault aside whenever it involves a big name athlete (see Roethlisberger, Ben).

With all that being said, I think it would be cool if USC somehow honored his scholarship, at least on an academic/goodwill basis, so he can try and make something of his life. I can't imagine what those 6 years were like for him.

.
That may be the worst part of this story. Rape is an awful awful thing and someone very close to me was raped several years ago. The trauma of it will never go away and it is one of if not the most heinous of crimes. A girl like this just throws it out there to make money and actual victims have a lesser chance of being taken seriously

He is scheduled to workout for the Seahawks. At least he has an outside chance at his dream.
