Wow, does it have to do with the coaching changes? And are the other departures gonna hurt us?Mops wrote:this isnt the only depature I am hearing.

This is a big loss. That's a spot we really really can't afford to lose kids at

Thanks Mops. Any big news at this point in the year is usually bad news. Celotto was, IMO, our best DT. Not a good time to take off.

I really liked Cellotto, but I guess we need to look at the brightside, it frees up more schollies for this class. Mops when will we know the other(s) tranfers/players leaving the team??

I'd assume either by Tuesday or after spring ball is over and depth charts going into summer are made.hermistonduck wrote:I really liked Cellotto, but I guess we need to look at the brightside, it frees up more schollies for this class. Re: Celotto leaves program
We now really only have 3 DTs for spring in Ferras, Toeaina, and Montgomery. The only player that is really able to play is Bair but he'll be needed for DE. We now will have to count on Iupati, Justin Brown, and Wade Keliikipi when they get here in the fall. DT is going to be a position where the coaches have to hit recruiting hard now.

Re: Celotto leaves program
With all of the coaching changes, top players graduating, players leaving or not coming back to the team for one reason or another, etc, this season will be a huge test for Chip Kelly and this program. We have a lot of talent, but it might be hard to top last year's 10 wins.

Re: Celotto leaves program
Brutal news...and if you recall he had considered leaving last year too! Our DT position is in a tough spot, lets hope guys step up this year!
Mops I hate to think who else is leaving but lets just hope its because we have too much depth and they (the one(s) considering leaving) are just not good enough!
Good luck to Tony, it must have been a tough choice for him!
GO DUCKS!!

Maybe Pritchett? Maybe he's not as good as some thought?

Re: Celotto leaves program
Mops, can you tell us if they're in contention for a starting spot? I don't care if they're buried on the depth chart to leave room for more schollies.
