"EUGENE, Ore. -- Police ticketed three freshmen Ducks basketball players Monday night on suspicion of shooting pellet guns at ducks and geese in Alton Baker Park.

Police cited Michael R. Dunigan, 19; Teondre Javon Williams, 19; and Cedric Josh Crittle, 19, on suspicion of violating park rules against discharging pellet guns and hunting in Eugene city parks.

All three are freshmen members of the University of Oregon basketball team. Dunigan is the 6-10 starting center for the Ducks; Williams is a 6-4 guard; and Crittle is a 6-8 forward.

Police received a report of three men shooting in Alton Baker Park at 11:08 p.m. Monday night.

Officers arrived and watched the trio shoot about 20 rounds from what was determined to be a pellet gun.

The three headed towards the restrooms, and officers saw Dunagin throw up his hands, followed by a splash. Officers later recovered a gun from the pond. Two other pellet guns were located elsewhere, police said. Police are holding the two Powerline brand guns and a Crosman brand gun as evidence."

lol.. I saw that too. Probably doesn't help that our mascot is the ducks.. The story still gave me a good laugh though.

At least it was pellet guns, instead of firing a conventional weapon in town, like several Beaver Baseball players were charged with last year.

Judging by the way those 3 played basketball last season, they probably didn't come close to hitting anything.

Geez! Get in the gym. I would be embarrassed if I was a McDonald's AA and couldn't even make the two deep Pac-10 freshman team.

Completely unacceptable.......kick them off the team.

That's pretty damn harsh dude. Ya it was very stupid, and it warrants a serious penalty, but to basically wreck their careers and take away their scholarships is extreme. Plus our team can't survive without those three.

That's what I was thinking. These guys freaking sucked this past year, why aren't they in the gym getting better at basketball. God knows they need too. You think after a season like this they might be concerned & want to get better. Not be out shooting Ducks with pellet guns.
