Ducks Attack Message Board Forum

I just wondered if people on this board will be rooting for the Trojans in their games before Nov. 3, since -- assuming the Ducks win all of their games before then -- that will send the hype for the Duck-Trojan game as it draws near into orbit, as well as the fact that we'll want as big a rankings "bump" as possible if we end up beating them.

I have to say that, even given all that, I simply don't see myself rooting for the Trojans for almost any of their games this year (with the possible exception of their Husky and ND games). I'm not buying into the USC hype at this point, and frankly I just want to see them down down down as much as possible. If the Ducks are as good as we hope, I don't think we need the Trojans being ranked in the top 5 to get to the NC game. I'm especially looking at the early Trojan games Sept. 15 at Stanford and Oct. 4 at Utah as possibly revealing that the Trojans really ain't so good.

have not and never will be a person who roots for
USC. That being said part of me want's both teams
to be undefeated when they play. Reason being is how
the poles and computer rankings always seem to favor
the SEC. A win in LA would be huge. But being that's a
a few month's away, lets take care of Ark state first.

While I'd love to be the team to take down the top dog, it makes more sense for us to want USC to lose another game.

If, for example they lost to Utah then with Utah avoiding both the ducks and cardinal they could very likely win the south and we would get an easier path to the pac 12 title

I won't be actively rooting for them but I won't be upset if they go into the game with us undefeated. USC losing before playing us doesn't help the overall perception of the Pac-12 as being weak.

I generally root for the Pac teams no matter what. Very few exceptions, if any, to that.

In conference, I have my preferences. I like some teams over others, and I'd say USC is in the top half of the Pac when it comes to teams I'd root for.

I'm torn between this, and desperately wanting to see the epic meltdown in the National media if USC drops a couple and the hype dissipates.

The only way I see USC dropping a game before Nov. 3rd is if injuries hit the starting 22 and depth does not develop. If they do lose a game, they just aren't as good as we think they are.

Silently I will be pulling for this to be a brawl of undefeated teams. College Game Day game.

This is an interesting scenario...If Utah doesn't lose to another conference opponent, they would be hosting the Pac-12 CC. If Oregon were to win the North, they would travel to Utah. Regardless of the winner, where does USC go with one loss to Utah? Still in the BCS title talk if Utah were to lose, having beaten Oregon? You'd have 3 Pac-12 teams with one loss, each to each other. Only one could go to the NCG, or would everyone be crying foul since last year's LSU-Bama repeat? Only two of them can be in the BCS...which two? This could get REALLY intesting...and controversial!

This is entirely plausible. I'm of the opinion Utah could be pretty dang good.

I don't think the consensus here is USC can't beat UO; but I don't think USC or UO would beat the other twice.

I don't get that feeling, personally. Some people may be more confident than others but if anyone honestly thinks that USC can't beat us in the Coliseum, they are ridiculously biased. We have a ton of potential but at the end of the day, that's all it is, potential. USC beat us at home last year so we've seen it happen already.

What I wrote was bait and in Jest. I know a handful of posters here that see the game (both squads healthy) 50-50.
