I am beginning to think this guy is true sleaze

Hmmm, I think it was someone investigating the Oregon case that said it was the strangest case he had seen. I wonder if its stuff like this that's keeps popping up with lyles that he was talking about

Garza was accused of reimbursing travel expenses for Will Lyles, who helped arrange an unofficial visit for recruit Lache Seastrunk and his mother. The visit took place two months before the permissible time period for prospects to make expense paid visits to the University. In addition, because Garza arranged the visit, the NCAA classified him as a booster.

The NCAA said Garza denied the claims when he was interviewed at USC in August 2011, until he was shown the financial records. Then, he admitted it.

From the beginning Oregon has been very forward and cooperative with the NCAA and any investigation they've done. I don't think we'll receive anything more than a slap on the wrist because of how many other schools WLyles worked with, our forwardness and the fact that the only recruit in question from WLyles - Lache, never played a down for us.

It makes no sense to punish Tennessee for this. The penalties should follow the coach.

Charles Robinson said himself that this was maybe the most nuanced and complex issue he'd been around. Lots of ins, lots of outs, lots of what have yous.

That's a bit harsh on the new team. For example, regardless of how one feels about USC, they shouldn't have to suffer for wrongs committed at Tennessee (they have to suffer enough with him coaching them).

That's why a coach like Kiffin shouldn't be hired. If USC doesn't want their kids to be punished, hire a clean coach. I think the punishment should absolutely follow the coach9.

I don't get why people claim Oregon has been honest and straight forward. I don't think anyone outside the athletic department has said that Oregon is cooperating, and it's not like the school is going to say "yeah, we've been kinda dodging their questions and giving them half truths. Hopefully they don't figure out that we lied about that one thing".

Oregon may very well be cooperating to the fullest, and I like to think that they are, but there really is no evidence of that. There have been so many twists and turns, and it's been drug out so long, I'm just going to wait til it's all over before judging what the punishment should be.

Think about this: IIRC, it was reported that Lache Seastrunks Mother was able to participate in multiple recruiting trips, apparently including Cal and Tennessee... But not OREGON, and she was pi$$ed that the Ducks would not pay for her to come along. (I believe it was Coach Cam who commented on that.)

I do remember reading that, but the article in this thread is actually a little worse for tennessee. Not only did they give Lyles money to organize the visit with mom present, they did it 2 months prior to when they are allowed to pay for official visits. Basically they gave him an official visit before they were allowed to.

The assumption is that we have been cooperative because we hired Bond Schoeneck & King as representation. Their track-record is to divulge every potential violation, and one of the principal lawyers involved used to be on NCAA infraction committees. Maybe the assumption is wrong, but that is where this notion of cooperation comes from.
