Losing games is not the only problem Gene Chizik has faced this fall at Auburn. The embattled coach of the Tigers also is overseeing a program being investigated by the NCAA, Yahoo! Sports has learned.
According to multiple sources, NCAA investigators have spent weeks looking into potential improprieties involving Auburn recruits, players, coaches, representatives of the school's athletic interests and third parties. Assistant coaches Trooper Taylor and Curtis Luper have been scrutinized by the NCAA, sources said. Taylor is the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach, while Luper coaches running backs and is the recruiting coordinator.

Without the lightning in a bottle formerly known as sCam Newyon, Chizik likely would not have survived this long.

Many in Alabama are setting aside the NC win because they played us & we weren't a worthy opponent, hence he doesn't get a pass. Interesting.

Guess we still don't pass the sniff test for those in the SEC. Gotta keep winning in order to shut them up.

Those people are idiots. In an interview that Cam Newton did with Jon Gruden, Cam said "those guys had an answer defensively for almost everything we did". This is from someone that went 13-0 and unbeaten through an SEC schedule.

Oregon came closer to beating them than anyone in the SEC did, including Alabama. We also stomped a Tennessee team in Knoxville that nearly (should have) beaten LSU in Death Valley that season.

They'll keep talking trash until we beat a legitimate SEC contender. Even then they'll say that we could never hold up under a full SEC schedule. My reply to that would be, "Oh, you mean that 8 game, non-round robin schedule you play that's padded on both ends with Podunk U and West Wesleynn State College?"

Stuff gets old.

Woo....woo....hold now...what do you mean "many people"? I have not heard one AU fan say that, if you are talking morons that posting on a comment section on a espn website then yes, they are morons and more than likely just trolling to get a response.

I've read some quoted in different articles but that doesn't necessarily represent everyone obviously, but am surprised they used it as an excuse to justify firing Chizik. A bit of a stretch even for them!! Guess we'll just have to kick the SEC's a$$ next year.

AU is horrible to their coaches, I still can't believe they got rid of Tuberville, dude was a good coach.

I'm surrounded by both Alabama and Auburn fans, and I've never heard a single one say that Auburn's NC win doesn't mean much because it came against us. Most realize that we gave Auburn the best game they got all year. On the other hand plenty of Bama fans and SEC fans in general are more than happy to dismiss their title since Auburn had to buy Cam to make it happen.

If you take out the 2010 season Chizik's run at Auburn was very pedestrian. Auburn fans think they're an elite program, on par with Bama, which they're not, but it does explain why they're horrible to their coaches. Add in the fact that Bama is rolling, Auburn has pulled in back to back monster recruiting classes that haven't performed on the field and the number of embarrassing off season incidents that have occurred on Chizik's watch and it's really no surprise that he got the boot.
