I wonder why we seem to have such difficulty in recruiting DT's these days? Nice pick up for Cal.

Marsh will play DE in the 3-4 scheme the Bears run.

Coach Azz is getting a late start for DL recruiting. Once the staff is allowed to contact recruits with phone calls, look for our DL recruiting to pick up.

I also wouldn't say we have had difficulty recruiting DT's, more along the lines of our previous DL coach going after recruits who couldn't qualify.

There were obvious failures in the qualification area at DT (If players like Wade had gotten in, we wouldn't be having this discussion.)... The frustrating thing was that there were several excellent players, who wanted to be Ducks, that fell through the cracks while Oregon wasted effort attempting to get borderline students into school. (Sophomore Christian Tupou , brother of former Oregon player Fenuki, and currently a starter at Nose Tackle for USC, comes to mind...)

Somebody definitely dropped the ball in the academic evaluation dept.

I wonder if that was a reason why Gray was let go.

I've always assumed that was the #1 reason

it will take a couple of yrs to make in roads into Cal land.

Hopefully the State of Oregon has about ten good Div 1 players this yr.

Stanford just landed Alex Turner, someone who ducks had a solid shot at.

Stanford's class is already starting to get big. However, none of them seem like 4 star or 5 star players.

I'm not sure about that one. This class (2009), Oregon got, by far, the best over-all group from the bay area, Cal's back yard.

From what I saw, Cal actually got the lowest rated players from their surrounding area. Maybe it's because those players were able to check out a Cal game in person and saw how sleepy the fans are there. :D
