Sidelines ought to be pretty entertaining to watch for a couple seasons, regardless what happens on the field.

Good hire for them, there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to compete. I hope he can turn them around.

Guess I should say no good reason? In other words, they should be able to compete.

They have had signs of tuning things around, even had a Heisman quality QB a few years back, but every time they gain some ground they seem to nose dive afterwards. This year has just been tragic

What can Kentucky offer a recruit that any other team in the SEC can not? Why would a talented athlete chose to go there if he had offers from.... say... ANYONE ELSE in the SEC? Kentucky has a long, long, way to go before they are a relevant football team. It is going to have to be done with an up and coming coach who is able to maximize the talent of recruits that have been passed over by all of the other SEC schools.

I’m not saying they should be able to take recruits away from the big boys, but they are the only SEC school in the state and other than Louisville, they have no real competition in their own state when it comes to recruits. The chance to play in the SEC and getting more exposer than if they played in the Big East (or next year ACC ) should be enough to give them a leg up on Louisville. I mean hell, I'm a football junkie, I watch everything just about and I can't name one starter off the top of my head when it comes the Louisville rooster and they are a two loss team!


In addition to that Kentucky has been to a bowl game 5 times in the past 7 years, they have won three of those beating Clemson (’06) , Florida State (’07) , and East Carolina ( ’08) so it’s not like they are a school that has seen nothing but losing seasons for the past six years (I’m looking at you Colorado) and they currently have 15 players in the NFL (y’all have 22 FWIW) so it’s not like are not getting talent in their program and sending people to the next level. All of that should look pretty good to a recruit, not to mention that a big talented RB back or skill player could look to play right away vs going to LSU and and having to sit behind 5 other guys.


It’s not like they are Vandy, who competes with Tennessee for recruits and have a higher standard for acceptance when it comes to GPA’s and what not. They are a good school, with a great campus, nice facilities and a big name in other sports.


So basically what I am saying is, with the right person at the helm they should be able to compete in the SEC and go to a bowl game more times than not. Though if the school was smart, they would break up some of that B-Ball money and help the guys in the football program better their facilities to make the place a little sweeter for recruits like LSU Football does for the other sports here.
