So let me get this straight. According to Saban if you are not good enough to win your conference, you should not be able to play in a BCS game. Let's not discuss last year though, that was completely different.

How funny would it be if 11-1 Florida jumped 12-1 Alabama in the final regular season BCS standings. I know its impossible but one can dream with the computers, right?

Supposedly that's who he models his coaching after, or something like that (IIRC, has a LOT of respect for Saban). Only thing is, he doesn't have the winning part down yet.

Guys, he isn’t talking about the BCS title game, he is saying that it is unfair that the loser of the SEC championship game doesn't get into the Sugar Bowl as the SEC rep when clearly the Dawgs, or Bama for that matter, would be much more deserving than Florida. I’ve had a problem for years that they take the higher ranked SEC team over the Team that came in second overall. It really should be the loser of the title game in my opinion when the loser of the title game was ranked higher that the other SEC teams going into the Championship game.

Basically, Florida is being awarded for not going to the title game.

Yeah, but he was rewarded for not playing in the SEC title game (just like I said above). If he hadn't been, bama would have not played you guys last year for the title, and LSU would have been the champs. Saban is a whiny B, and only cares about what helps his team period.

I'm just saying when it comes to this he kind of has a point, outside the hypocrisy of it all. Let’s look at it like this, let’s say the PAC 12 title game decided who was playing in the National Championship this year, and you guys lost to USC so they went to the title game instead of the pack game, but instead of you getting to go to the Rose Bowl Stanford got in as a 1 loss team ranked in the top 5 even though you were ranked #2 in the country and just lost to the #3 team after Stanford’s season was over.

In other words...I get the short bastard's point this time is all.

Though if LSU was the team looking to back door into the sugar I would be all for it

There is a point, no doubt, but if he actually took his own point into consideration and believes it, maybe he should give back that chrystal football of his, since he shouldn't have been playing in the NCG last year by his logic.

How do we know they would have won? Furd and/or Okey State were pretty good at the end of the season as well (So was Oregon). Using the Saban argument, teams not in their own conf. championship should not be ranked in the top 4 or 5 to begin with. If Ga wins a tight one, they move up to #2 and Bama drops to #3 and plays in the Sugar (really ticking off Florida).

He does have a point, imo. To me, it just underscores the argument against having conference championship games. They over-lap the purpose of a post-season. Especially now that we're moving toward a play-off.

If two or three teams in the same conference are deserving, they should all go to the post-season. They can meet each other on the field there. Conference champ games kind of skip a step ahead, altering placement into the post-season as Saban is pointing out.

If Saban really wants to hold the high-ground then UA should give up last years mNC since they didn't even win their division. He can't have it both ways, either forfeit last years title or STFU.
