Marcus "Sweet Feet" Jones
Hey guys I coach high school football here in Sacramento, CA and we have this kid on our team who has been getting looked at lately. We coaches have talked to Washington (I'm praying the kid doesn't go), USD (San Diego) SD State, Cal, Fresno St. and a few small midwest teams. Was wondering what you guys think of him? He's a real good kid. Not a punk or big headed kind of kid. Truly cares about the team and his teammates. I can't say enough about him. He'll be a senior this coming year.

I'm a big character guy myself, and so I love to see positive kids make their way through. Film is okay, and being respectful, Oregon is so limited on schollies this year and will probably only take no more than 2 WR's this year, so an Oregon offer is not very likely for this young man, but that doesn't mean he won't end up somewhere of course. Personally if I had to do it all over again, I'd go to USD, the campus is beautiful and the school is solid. But I wasn't good enough to play collegiate football so that will factor. Good luck to you and the young man, he works hard, good things will happen.

Honestly Jhop I don't think UO are nearly as limited in the scholarship department as once thought. UO has already lost 2 players and spring isn't over yet, plus we'll have to see if all the kids get in from this last year's class.

True, losing two helps, Harris' is in trouble, but either way unless we lose some more we may not even have 20 spots when it's all said and done.

duckyfan, would it be ok to tell us which positions the two players that might transfer play? Any hints are always appreciated.duckyfan wrote:You're looking at about 15 if signing day were tomorrow. Could be some more transfers, two in particular and if I was a betting man, I'd say two recruits do not get in.

I'm also big on high-character kids. I think we need more kids like that coming up no matter where they end up. I will be blatantly honest though because I know that's what you're looking for. I personaly don't see big time division one ball talent in the highlight reel. I do see a kid who could develop into a solid player at a place like USD or SDSU, however.Quacks916 wrote:Hey guys I coach high school football here in Sacramento, CA and we have this kid on our team who has been getting looked at lately. Take my opinion for what it's worth. I'm not a professional scout nor am I a coach that decides whom to offer scholarships. I do truly hope that he ends up playing football somewhere on scholarship, even if for a small school. If he did that, he could end up being a leader off the field for them as well. I wish you guys good luck.

I see potential there. Looks like he might need to work on strength and speed. But, he runs down-hill and makes good decisions. If he has a good work ethic and trains hard this season, I could see his stock going up considerably. He needs to be the kid in the weight room or on the track after practice.
I think the production of the video itself needs some work. Instead of trying to use all of those special effects. Just do simple cuts between plays. The slow-motion, etc. is a distraction and may even take away from how the kid looks.
[It's also possible that he could find a spot on D as a safety or something as well.]

All I can say, Harris with this incident and grade problems would be my first.VinnyKnuckles wrote:duckyfan, would it be ok to tell us which positions the two players that might transfer play? Yeah, no doubt he is one of the recruits that might not make it in. I was wondering about which current players might transfer though. duckyfan indicated two more players in particular might be transferring. If I were forced to make a guess, I would say Tyrell Irvin is a logical candidate to be one of those players. He has been moved from his customary linebacker position to defensive end. Considering he is listed at only 6'1", 219 lbs., there is reason to question how well that will work. It is just wild speculation on my part, but it certainly wouldn't come as a huge shock to discover he plans on transferring to a lower level school where he can play linebacker.UOducksTK1 wrote:All I can say, Harris with this incident and grade problems would be my first.
