Aaron Brooks tore up the lakers today going for 34 in the big win even after Yao was announced done for the rest of the playoffs. Nice win for the Rockets and great game for Brooks.

So, who do you think had more to do with our trip to the elite 8? Brooks or Kent?

Kent deserves no credit because:

1) he was recruited by WW Wes
2) he was recruited by Catron
3) he was recruited by the Assistant coaches

OR:

Brooks was already NBA ready as a freshman..... blah blah blah


OR:

He can only win with a great point guard....that he did not develop.....that was not recruited by Kent....blah blah


Then: Go ahead and give us the highlights of the Monson era.

Is that you Ernie? Sorry man, you are fantastic at developing talent. Great job with Brooks. The Rockets owe you a big thanks. If only you weren't stuck with such a terrible group of talentless kids now. Then maybe you could get some more wins right?

Brooks was a monster today.

I love how the Rockets dominated without Yao or Tmac.

The point is, we had not not sucked in a very long time before Kent. The fact that we've had two of our most successful seasons ever under him is a very valid argument in his favor.

Look, I'm not a big Kent lover. At all. Whatsoever. If we don't finish in the top half of the Pac-10 next year, I'll call for his departure. But I think that there are some people on this board that take their downright hatred of him way too far.

Back to the thread... Brooks has done so much better in the NBA than I ever thought he would. My best expectations for him were maybe being a spot starter. But he has really been a star in the playoffs. Like he should make the two-deep of the all-playoff team at this point. That's amazing for a guy his size on a team as good (and by that, I mean not excellent) as the Rockets.

I don't hate EK, not even close. I just happen to want my bball team to have even a shred of consistency. If Kent started coaching this team to consistent 18-20 win seasons I'd love him. I'm not gonna apologize for wanting a good consistent bball program.

Just for fun here dthomas, I'm really not trying to turn this into educk, but please list a "good consistent bball program" that you would be happy with. And I think in fairness, they should come from the pac10. Go ahead and list a few pac10 programs that meet your standards, and of the ones you list, do you think Oregon should rightly be on par with them?

Well duckgrad, I guess you didn't want to try your hand at an answer or a legit discussion about which programs you would choose. I certainly don't want to re-hash this discussion so go ahead and provide the link to where the forum feels the Ducks should rank in the pac10 over a long period of time. I'm just trying to keep things a little level here. I'm looking for a little insight to the crew that is very unhappy with our hoops program and trying to guage their expectations. I'm thinking this should be easy since many here are sure that this coach is horrible. Here, I'll help you and dthomas out:

P10 programs that meet my standards: 1) UCLA 2) UA 3) ...your turn.

What's mediocre to you? Making the NCAA tournament? I mean really, do you have to make it to the sweet 16 for a year to not be mediocre?

For starters, look at Kent's record in pac-10 play. Also,look at home many times Oregon has been around the .500 mark or worse overall. Under Kent, Oregon has had about 4 good years. The rest haven't been good at all. I'm not making this up either. Just go look up the records and stats.
