... until he randomly commits to Oklahoma 2 days after the article comes out, having never visited there and never mentioning them in interviews. Sorry, just bitter and sarcastic. Hopefuly this kid isn't as volatile.

Wouldn't be Oklahoma, it would be Ok. State as they have offered, but I have a good feeling on this one.
Story is done and probably will be up on DT within an hour or so.

Sorry for the delay. Having so much content that it has to wait a day is a good problem though

"Oregon is my father's top school for me, his opinion will play a role in my decision, however overall, the choice is mine."
Nice work Jhop, that was music to my ears, hopefully we can make it from Top 2, to Top 1 lol

I love our chances with this kid and it's especially comforting to know that Isaac Dixon is not only very high on us, but that he is saying that without the benefit of a visit. Wait till he sees the facilities, etc. I also like the fact there coming in the summer and not during the winter or late fall. Sure it would be nice to have them hit a home game, but to be honest i'm just happy that we not only have a young man who loves the Ducks and is willing to make the 6,000+ round trip out to Eugene and back, but that we have a father who loves the Univ. of Oregon and is making the trip out here with his son. That to me is very crucial for us, because recruiting in your back yard is hard enough, but when you are going after kids across the country you really have to sell your school to not only the recruit, but his family as well. Now I know that regardless of where a particular recruit lives you have to convince the family (In most cases)that your school is whats best for their child, but what i'm saying is that if your recruiting a young man from across the country you really need to make an impression on the parents and make them feel comfortable with the fact that although there son is a long ways away, he is in good hands. I think this very thing hurt us in our recruitment of Tahj Boyd this past year. Yeah Tahj loved his trip, but he came alone and although he told his mom that "It will blow your mind," when it comes to our facilities, she got no feel on the family atmosphere or the way in which the program is ran, because she didn't come and thus went with the safe pick of Clemson. Recruiting is a very competitive thing and now that we seem to really be going up against the big boys more often than we used to, we really need to take advantage of every oppurtunity we come across and keep coming up with new ideas to market the program (New Jerseys, facility upgrades, etc) and as for getting kids to sign I truly believe, as most of you do as well, that we need to not only keep doing the obvious stuff like continue to be one of the best teams in the Pac10, go to a bowl game every year, and continue to be an offensive powerhouse, but we need to get recruits to visit and if at all possible with someone in there family. If we can get those things to happen we will only get better in terms of W/L, but I would not be one bit surprised if in the next few years we signed the highest rated Duck class ever.

No worries. Right before I posted that comment I was watching a football preview thinga ma jiggy for Clemson and they did a segment about the incoming class and it made me think of Tahj Boyd and how we were so close to getting him, but his family wanted him to stay on the east coast. The fact that Isaac Dixon is coming to Eugene with his father also made me think of Lynell Hamilton who was a RB that we recruited back in 2002 I believe. Lynell also came to Eugene with his dad and at the time I was a student at UofO. I remember seeing Lynell with Onterrio Smith at a wild party and needless to say we didn't get Lynell (Went to San Diego St.) because the Hamiltons were fairly religious and the father didn't like the fact that Onterrio exposed him to sex and drugs. Looking back I kinda chuckle at the fact that Onterrio Smith, being the good role model that he is, was the chaperone for any recruit, let alone one that comes from a very religious family.
