Ugh. This class isn't deep enough to not care about QBs going elsewhere. We need to get one soon.

so you're saying a QB who was never going to come here actually didn't come here? darn! shucks! does he live for than 1500 miles and you say he never took an unofficial visit? if yes, i'm just shocked he's not coming here. shocked! :ugeek:

Seems to me that Oregon needs to be more aggressive in the recruiting process. Why can't we get a top qb or rb to commit early to us?

so you're saying that we should force qb's to commit? has it ever occurred to you that maybe we're recruiting kids who are taking their time and going through the recruiting process?

and i can see the panic in wanting a qb or rb to commit in June. oh wait...that was a lie. my bad.

Not panic, but a lot of the top qb's are coming off of the board lately. I don't know about you, but I want Oregon to land the best players possible. Plus, given our history of qb's and injuries lately, it's crucial that we don't settle at that position.

Agreed fellas, but just so you know Brunetti held no offer and his grades were probably going to keep him from getting one. So feel free to panic or not, but this recruit was not likely to get an offer unless SEVERAL others were gone. But, lots of QB's are coming off the board right now, thankfully Broadway, Legaux, Scroggins, Morris, Godfrey are still out there.

Hines, your act of being the know-all expert on Duck recruiting is so played out and lame. For someone who constantly claims that recruiting in June is unimportant, you sure follow it closely.

(Posted Yesterday) Bill Kurelic (Regular contributor to ESPN's Midwest Recruiting Blog) wrote:

"Rumors are flying around this afternoon that Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's QB Robert Bolden has committed to Michigan State. However, moments ago when I asked Bolden's dad if that was accurate he quickly answered, "absolutely not." He said his son has not committed to anyone."

Bolden sets record straight

Robert Bolden echoed that sentiment Monday night.

“I haven’t committed to anyone,” Bolden said. “I heard about those rumors, but I don’t know where they came from. They aren’t true.”

“It’s mainly Penn State, Michigan State and Oregon,” Bolden said. “And I’ve been talking to West Virginia, but I haven’t done much as far as getting down there.”

When asked which of three schools he has at the top of his list, Bolden said, “I don’t have a favorite.”

Kurelic’s Comment: I will be surprised if Bolden’s decision does not come down to Penn State or Michigan State. While Bolden does not seem concerned about P.J. Jones, I think it is in the Spartans’ favor they don’t have a commitment from a quarterback at this point.

lol...my act. fantastic. yes i act like a know it all dude only because i get a kick out of people who don't actually think things through before they post (like i do sometimes).

1. again, has anyone thought about the fact that we might be recruiting kids who just aren't committing early to ANYONE? we have 2.5 commits. guess what, those 2.5 commits wanted to commit early. texas probably about 18 or so commits. guess what, those 18 recruits wanted to commit early. now at some point, those commits might want to open things up, but as of now, those kids who are committed wanted to commit early. sorry for pointing out the obvious to those who are upset they don't get kids they wanted minus the fact that the kid they wanted didn't have a scholie offer in the first place. oops. my bad. i apologize.

2. could you point out for me when i said recruiting in june was unimportant? was there a day or time i actually said recruiting in june was unimportant? why no, i never said that nor would i ever be stupid to say that. what i've said for years and years (i've followed this stuff going on 12 years now. yeah for me!) is that getting upset over a recruit that chose another school in june is silly because there is EIGHT MORE MONTHS UNTIL LOI day which means to overreact in june is just hilarious because there is SOOOOOOOO much time for that recruit to change his mind and actually take visits (not even to UO, a visit to ANYWHERE). shoot man, UCLA has already had 2 or 3 de-commits and it's ONLY JUNE! so a person overreacting to a qb recruit going somewhere else when that kid never even had an offer to Oregon is absolutely hilarious to me.

3. stop thinking you know who the coaches are recruiting. oh sure we have a good idea of who we are recruiting but we don't know everyone. only look at a database when you need to and for me that's only when we get a commit. i still have no idea who the qb is that we didn't get and who we didn't offer that someone overreacted to but i just think it's fun to see someone overreact to a recruit we never gave a scholie offer to. i'm still pissed halle berry has never called me back but i think i understand her non-calls back because i just realized i've never actually called her. gosh dang darn.

4. simple recruiting to live by from someone who's watched from for almost 12 years now. most of these are repeats.

1. if we haven't offered him, they probably won't commit.
2. if they live more than 1500 miles away, the chances of them committing and sticking to their commits is pretty low. getting the commit is tougher, the commit sticking to their commit is pretty good but not that shocking if they go elsewhere.
3. HS All star games suck. always have, always will. OMG he's going to play in the Army All star game? booooooooooooooooring.
4. if the recruit lives in LA, expect that recruit to commit to SC or UCLA if offered. that obviously doesn't happen all the time but don't be surprised if they never leave the area. family, friends are usually more important than winning/losing because those recruits have never played college ball (Lowe to UW!? oh noes!)
5. distance is always a factor. i never believe a recruit in the long run when they say that because they don't own the house they live in, their parents do and mom and dad have to sign the papers too. the recruit might think distance isn't a factor from january to about sept/oct. but it usually is the closer to LOI day.
6. saying we should offer a local kid because they are local is a horrible idea.
7. saying we should go after a kid who hasn't committed because the "DATABASE" TELLS US is perhaps a worse idea.
8. different eyes see different things. OMG! rivals has him at #9 while scout has him at #23. Scout sucks! please stop assuming that rivals and scout or even espn has the exact same video the other 2 do. i'll say it again, different eyes see different things. i've never thought cindy crawford was that great looking. some might think i'm crazy. so what you're saying is that you see that person differently than i do? but scout had her at #8 in the database and rivals had her at #14. rivals sucks! penthouse letters are artistic while you might think they're disgusting. but espn had the letters ranked #46 and scout had them at #32. espn sucks man! the difference between the #22 rb on one service and the same kid ranked #30 on another is essentially non-existent so please don't freak out over the smallest of things. the rankings change every month so those rankings aren't written in stone. how many times do you see a kid that's ranked #30 at position X actually stick there months after they are ranked at #30? never quickly comes to my mind. too many variables.

there are more rules but i'm bored being a know it all recruiting expert. enjoy your sunny day boys and girls.

I thought Bolden was going to visit?

That'd suck if he already committed, although I haven't heard anything yet.

As of last night, he apparently wasn't committed, at least officially, and Oregon was in his top 3, alongside Penn State and Michigan State, with no leader among the 3... His words, not mine.

To be in the top 3 for Bolden, without a visit, is pretty good, this early in the game.
