2002- Coming off of the Fiesta Bowl victory and a #2 ranking to end 2001. Keep in mind we had all the momentum and the Autzen Stadium expansion underway for its debut in the 2002 season.

*Oregon’s 1st commit that year was Andy Collins, an unrated QB from Washington. He committed on December 17th.

*The class ended up with 14 1* level kids which means they were unrated and no one had heard of them.

*Anthony Trucks, Junior Siavii, Aaron Gibson, Enoka Lucas, Terrence Whitehead and J.D. Nelson were among the lower rated players.

*The “rated” recruits included blue-chips Haloti Ngata, Kellen Taylor and Chris Solomona. Others highly rated were Albert Toeaina, David Dixon, James Finley and Marques Binns.

*End of August Tally-N/A

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2003- More or less a brand new stadium and a full year after a great season (Typically when you see the recruiting results from a great season).

*Oregon’s 1st commit that year was Johnny Durocher. He committed on May 28th. A.J Tuitele, Dante Rosario and Jordan Carey all followed, with Tuitele the only other commit before July. After that, the next commit came at the end of November.

*Dennis Dixon and Ryan Gilliam were the top 2 highly-ranked recruits that year. Dante Rosario, Garren Strong and Brian Paysinger were all under ranked.

*End of August tally-(4) DuRocher, Tuitele, Rosario, Carey

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2004- Oregon’s 1st commit was an in state guy, David Faaeteete, a 4* who committed May 12th.

*The highly rated De La Salle crew of (top-ranked WR) Cameron Colvin, the late Terrance Kelly, Willie Glasper and Jackie Bates didn’t commit until December for Bates and January for the rest.

*Patrick Chung, Jeff Kendall, Mark Lewis and Max Unger were all underrated recruits.

*End of August tally- (4) Faaeteete, Hucko, Lewis, Kendall

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2005- Oregon’s 1st commit was a kid by the name of Matt Webb. That came July 2nd

*Jairus Byrd, Walter Thurmond III, Blair Phillips were all underrated prospects that came from January or later.

*Ed Dickson, Palauni Ma Sun and Derrick Jones were blue chips who came in January or later.

*Jonathon Stewart was the top ranked RB who came in late January.

*End of August tally- (3) Matt Webb, Brian Truelove and Nick Reed

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2006- Oregon’s 1st commit was Nathan Costa. He committed on August 8th

*Spencer Paysinger, C.E Kaiser and Jordan Holmes were all underrated prospects who came November or later

*Fenuki Tupou was a top ranked prospect who came in mid December

*End of August tally- (1) Nathan Costa

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2007- Oregon’s 1st commit was Jeffrey Maehl on May 4th. Carson York followed on May 30th.

*Javes Lewis was an unrated recruit while Mark Asper and Aaron Pflugrad were underrated.

*Terrence Scott, Malachi Lewis, Darrion Weems, Kenny Rowe, Myles Wade, Simi Fili, the late Todd Doxey, Drew Davis, Terrence Pritchett, Charlie Carmichael and Carson York were all above average recruits.

*End of August tally- (10) Maehl, York, Carmichael, Pleasant, Gildon, Celotto, Wade, Neal, Matthews, Hanna

*This class is not even halfway through their careers and some are just getting started but this was probably our deepest and most talented class to date. We had 10 players at the end of August.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2008- Oregon’s 1st commit was Mychal Rivera on June 3rd followed by John Boyett on June 8th.

*LeGarrette Blount, Darron Thomas, Dewitt Stuckey, Chris Harper, and Justin Thomspon were highly ranked who came from late November on.

*End of August tally-(5) Rivera, Boyett, Grady, Cantu, Cody,

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2009- Oregon’s first commit last year was Taylor Hart in April, followed by Trevor Fox and Anthony Anderson in June.

*The first highly ranked player was a semi-local kid, Boseko Lokombo on Christmas Eve.

*End of August tally-(7) Hart, Fox, Bowlin, Rice, Anderson, Montgomery, Patterson

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2010- Oregon’s 1st commit was 5* candidate Curtis White in March of 2008, followed by star RB Ethan Grant from Florida in January of 2009.

*So far this recruiting cycle, Oregon has picked up four commitments, each getting a good share of interest from schools like Florida, LSU, USC, Cal, Tennessee, Florida State, etc.

*Mid-June tally-(4) White, Bennett, Grant, Mitchell

Give the Ducks a few years and they will be like USC, Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida, etc. and will get early commitments from 4-5* guys. They are well on their way to bringing in Top 10 classes every year!

Wasn't TJ Ward a walk-on from that 2004 De La Salle class? He probably is going to turn out to be the best of the bunch too.

Our first commits from every class have been busts, excluding Maehl.

Everyone except Maehl, and we dont know what Hart and White are going to do yet. That is interesting though.

Under Coach Bellotti the Ducks seem to like to put on late surges at the end of the recruiting cycle, (Bryce Brown, Terrell Pryor), then if those guys don’t pan out bring in their diamonds in the rough they’ve been hiding, high upside athletes they coach up and shift into positions. Not to say when the Ducks get a Halotti Ngata or a Jonathan Stewart they don’t coach them up too. Hell, they leave after their junior year!

What I don’t understand is why the Ducks can’t land a 4-5 star DE in all these efforts? A pass rush specialist would have the opportunity to tee off on the QB at least ¾’s of every game? Leading the nation in sacks could be a real possibility.

David Faaeteete was not a bust, he was a 2-year starter and bigtime contributor for us.

For a solid 4 star recruit with a handful of hype, I would personally call him a bust. I was expecting him to be a big time player at Oregon. But he was nothing more than a role player. And he started less than half the games in 2006, so he was not a 2 year starter..

2006, started 6 games and had 16 tackles.
2007, had 19 tackles and 2 sacks.
