Interesting story on Miami recruiting

Mainly about how they link their downward spiral to relying too much on recruiting sites instead of doing their own evaluations.
I guess I can see how guys could be tempted, assuming someone else did all the evaluation work for them. But if you look at Oregon's classes over the last several years they found a lot of one and two star guys that developed into starters. MB (and hopefully CK) was a very good talent evaluator.

Seems like a cop-out to me. I think that we have had to get guys that were "sleepers" out of necessity for the most part. We have had pretty good success with the guys that are highly rated on scout or rivals. I think Miami just has some sub-par coaching and can't develop their talent. I think if we traded rosters with Miami, we would still be very successful and they would do even worse.

Yes this is called passing the buck or pointing the finger. I failed but it can't possibly be my fault, so it must be yours. Whom can we blame? How about those recruiting sites, yeah, that's the ticket.

Well since he's fired both coordinators he is running out of excuses, and ..... time.

JHop you didn't know he was "Changing the culture of Miami football." LOL
In all seriousness if he doesn't win the ACC and go to a BCS bowl within the next 2 years I think that there is a very good chance he could lose his job and if those things haven't happened by the time most of his 08' class is Seniors than I guarantee he will be gone. He is running out of mistakes like the previous poster mentioned and a lot of Cane fans are getting sick of his excuses. I will say though that the team he had last year was VERY YOUNG and naturally they will need a bit more experience, but what his young players lacked in experience last year they made up for with talent, so it's not like they were a bunch of freshman bums. The unfortunate thing for Canes fans though (Not too unfortuante. lol) is that I don't think Shannon is very good at developing his players and because of that I think the high expectations that came with the great recruiting classes he has brought in the past few years will not be met and IMO that will end up being his ultimate undoing.

Getting rid of both coordinators probably won't speed up layer development, either.
