Still don't get what Clay was thinking

Mossis Madu SR (plays WR Too)
DeMarco Murray JR
Justin Johnson SO
Jermie Calhoun FR
Roy Finch HS SR

And it's likely Oklahoma could land one more RB in their class.

Johnson and Calhoun are big time backs, they'll be running the show for the next 3-4 years. Clay IMO made a bad decision going to Oklahoma.

Blount SR
Crenshaw SR
Alston JR
James FR
Grant HS SR

And go ahead and throw Barner in there. Clay has a much better chance playing earlier at Oregon (maybe even as a freshman!).

Just figured I'd bring this up since things have been slow around here.

Oklahoma also took 4* Jonathon Miller in last year's class as well.

Some have hinted the Ducks weren't offering Clay at running back. I have no idea if there is any truth to that.....it seems pretty crazy to me, but I have no clue where players at various positions actually rank on the coaches recruiting board. The only possible way that decision by Clay makes even the slightest amount of sense is if Oregon wasn't recruiting him at strictly running back. Otherwise, it is completely bizarre and perplexing, especially considering the timing of it.

Signing day isn't until February. A whole lot can happen until then.

Exactly what I was thinking, especially if Oregon can go on a long winning streak, run the ball like we have the last 2 seasons and beat USC. I think then we might have a good shot at maybe changing his mind

Speaking of long ways to go. It seems like there have been more NCAA early commits than usual this year. Is it just me?

Can you back that up with evidence?

Stanford's class is definitely crazy. Already 21 commits and we haven't even reached July?

Madness, I tell you..

Teams like Texas, Alabama, USC, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, etc will always have 10-15 commits around this time. They are power house schools with tons of talent nearby.

What's strange though is that we are seeing more mid level teams racking up big classes before July!

http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&yr=2010

Stanford had 6 commits last class by this time. They have 21 this year.
BYU had 6 commits by 6/23 last year. They have 18 this year.
SMU had 5 commits by 6/22 last year. This year, they have 13.
Texas A&M had 6 commits by 4/19 last year. This year, they have 16.

Maybe next year if the Ducks can put together a great year and a buzz develops around Kelly like Harbaugh at Stanford, Jones at SMU, etc. the Ducks can get a huge number of great recruits early!

Chip isn't taking commitments from kids who haven't visited yet and I think they were thinking this would be a smallish class and are being a little picky. Now that people keep dropping like flies maybe they will send out some more offers.

It does seem as if there are a lot more mediocre programs filling up a lot earlier than in the past. I'm used to seeing Texas full after their first camp, and the other big name schools pick up commits pretty quick but it does seem as if there are a lot of kids itching to pull the trigger this year.

Stanford is tough. because of their prestigious academically, its hard to sell academics against Stanford. If they continue winning I think they will continue to bring in great recruits. I mean heck you get a full ride to Stanford that's hard to turn down
