UT gets a commit from a 13 year old

He's a legacy, but this seems pretty ridiculous to me.

He can't drive yet. In fact, he's not even going to be in high school until the fall.

But already, Evan Berry, the younger brother of Tennessee standout Eric Berry, has pledged to be a part of the Vols' class of 2013. College football programs aren't allowed to extend a written offer to a player until Sept. 1 of their junior year, so it'll be a little while before an official scholarship offer from the Volunteers would even come through.

Evan is also the son of James Berry, a former Tennessee player from 1978-81.

"It's the only college I know right now and it seems the best for me," Evan Berry told Rivals.com. "My dad went there and my brother is there now. I know I can do the same things there. I have a real friendly relationship with the coaches there. I know I don't know them too well but I know I will have plenty of time to get to know them."

That is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard of. He is a 13 year old kid, he shouldn't be focused on college and important decisions yet. And who says he will even be decent playing high school football?

of all the reports over the years about 13 or 14 year olds committing to School X, they never stick. Taylor King committed to UCLA when he was 14 and that didn't stick and there was a kid about 5 years ago committing to Baylor in football and that didn't stick either.

Considering his dad went to Tennessee and his brother is currently there, it is pretty much common sense that he would want to go there, but to make a news story about it is stupid, leave it to the douchebag Kiffen!

Didn't Joey Harrington's dad send a letter to the Athletic Dept committing him to the Ducks shortly after he was born? That one stuck!

His brother will be gone, the coaches will be gone most likely and the team may be on probation by the time he starts looking @ offers IF he is good enough to recieve any. :|

My second favorite team next year is any team that plays Tennessee. Kiffin just rubs me the wrong way.

Not making this up. My 3-year-old went to his first soccer practice today. He said that he didn't want to play soccer. He wants to play "Duck football".

It's a legacy also since my grandfather was on the team back in the day.

You guys can go ahead and run that commit story on DT if you want. No charge.

:)

I took my 7 year old nephew to a game a few years ago, during halftime he asked me if he could come live with us (he lives in Vegas) and go to school at the UO when he got older... I said "sure buddy, you want to play football for the ducks?", he replied "no, I want to be the mascot". The mascot! I was dying...

GO DUCKS

Hah! Kids say the darndest things.

Our son interrupted the national anthem at the Spring Game this year because he saw Puddles walking out of the tunnel. "There's the Duck!!" :)
