Oregon offered. And he has over 50 offers. :o

DT is clearly a position that needs some attention, so this is good news.

Does that say we're in the top ten?

We aren't in his top 10 right now, but that's only because he wants to know more about Oregon and the coaches first.

He sounds like he has legit interest in Oregon, but with 50 schools going after you, it's understandable he wants to get to know us before he figures where we stand.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Smith has a 3.5 grade-point average and a 1,280 score on the SAT.

Put that together with his physical attributes, and he could go to any school he chooses.

At the beginning of the 2008 season, Smith weighed in a 230 ponds... If current reports are accurate, he has put on 20-25 pounds already, which bodes well for his ability to attain even greater stature, without losing athleticism, over the next year or so.

Sad to see Oregon didn't make his top 10:

ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive lineman Garrison Smith listed his ten favorites for affiliate Web site AuburnUndercover.com.

Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Southern California and Oklahoma made the cut from dozens of scholarship offers.

"I'm just taking things day by day and letting God help point me in the right direction," Smith said.

"Overall, Smith is a good defender. On film his size potential and physical nature seems to portray a kid who can slide down and give reps inside to take advantage of match-ups, but is also athletic enough to play on the edge and be productive versus the run and the pass."

Coach Azz is Smith's lead recruiter... Let's hope his enthusiasm for the Ducks rubs off!
