Keenan Allen
Spoke with a very big insider for Bama about the NC kids as I am going to be doing an article on them for the CrimsonConfidential site and he told me the chances are good that Keenan commits this weekend to Bama.
He did say he knows that group loves Oregon a ton and he thinks its down to Oregon, Bama, and Clemson for that entire group and mostly Keenan.
This guy is a good source, so I figured I'd share the info.
I will be speaking with Allen hopefully this weekend regarding the bama site so if I get anything juicy I will make sure to post it here too

Re: Keenan Allen
Hmm, a package deal is looking less and less likely. If I had to guess early, Allen to Alabama, King to Cal, McCain to UO, and Scales to Louis.
Thanks for sharing, mops.

In regard to the Alabama insider, don't you think that what those southern SEC guys say are SO biased that what they say, you would have to take with a grain of salt ?

Re: Keenan Allen
If Kelley busts out on all these East Coast guys( NC, Bolden, etc), and also considering they busted out last yr as well, do you think this will finally convince Kelley to concentrate closer to home?

Re: Keenan Allen
Nope, CK feels he needs the right guys to move this program to the next level, and not all of those guys exist on the west coast. National reruiting will get easier each year with continued success on the field and by continuing to build relationships off the field. He hasn't invested the last few years working the right coast for nothing, it has been an investment in the future. JMO.

As of right now, we're looking good for many high-ranked prospects east of the Rockies. Stephenson, D Williams, Mathis, McCain, other NC guys, Hayes, Legaux, Dixon, etc.

So still no news on him committing over the weekend. Do we live to see another day Mops, or is this one already over?

Re: Keenan Allen
I doubt he commits on the trip IMO. I was probably the last person of media to talk with him which was about a week ago. I'll say this: he wants to play with his buddies, if he goes to Bama he will probably be the only one to go there. That fact alone is in our favor due to the fact we would take McCain/King/Allen, and all 3 have us at least in their top 2.
If he does commit to Bama it probably won't be public for a week or two. This kid keeps a very low profile.

Very good news. Mops and tony both said Allen is key to land if we want the whole package.lacrossebill17 wrote:were in his final 2 us and bama per rivals

Re: Keenan Allen
Wow....Down to Bama and the Ducks. Great to hear...but where did this info come to light? In the Alabama forums?
Just out of curiosity I checked out Bama's WR recruiting in 2009 and it looks like they received commitment from 4, four star players last year and they already have a commitment from a four star in this cycle. Contrast that with our 2, four star WR recruits this past off season and none so far this year (and don't forget the fact that Gains will only be around 2 years).
If he has plans on making an early impact, Oregon is the place to do it. Not saying the depth at WR here is chop liver but you get the idea...

Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."
