Per Scout, Lattimore Offered

I don't know how great of a shot we really have with this kid, but I suppose this is the first step. Then again, it is scout.com so we'll see if it's even true.

No it's legit. DT reported it on Friday. He was officially offered on a phone call with Kelly a little after the end of the 7On tournament in Beaverton.

That's a rivals vid of Lattimore before he got offered.
Mentioned his top 8 (Oregon was NOT included), but he then said an offer from Oregon was about to come and that we'd definitely be in his top 5.
He says everyone is pretty much even and that he'd like to cut it to 5 in a couple weeks.

I'm not surprised at all Oregon and PSU are on the list. He said in the rivals video that we'd definitely be top 5. I would think Auburn would make his final 5. He talks about them pretty highly.

Marcus Lattimore... Come on down!
Give Jonathon Stewart a call if you need an endorsement. I hear he's a lot closer to you than he is to Oregon, these days!

The local paper reported he said Oregon, PSU, and UNC will definitely be in his top 5. In a recent article on rivals it just said Penn State and Oregon are the two definites but either way it's a sure thing we're in his top 5 and that he's planning on visiting. Oregon could help their chances by offering one of the three D1 receivers on Byrnes, preferably Nick Jones.gosterman01 wrote:Has he named a top group Tony?
Outside of those three, FSU and South Carolina are up there high as well. Those two having stale offenses should help our chances some.

well if Auburn makes the final 5, that leaves room for either South Carolina or Clemson... it says in the article that one of those two will be there (and from all indications so far it will most likely be that other USC).UOducksTK1 wrote:Nice find ^pikestick wrote:from a post on the Scout board: http://www.goupstate.com/article/200907 ... -finalists

Here's a short confirmation on the offer and top 5 in an article from Jhop. It's premium but I'll link it here for the DA faithful...

Just a short time ago DuckTerritory was able to break a huge development in Marcus Lattimore's recruitment. Recently he shared a very high interest in the University of Oregon with no offer from the school. Since that time a lot of things have changed with Marcus, so we checked back in to see what's new.
After a recent trip to the pacific northwest and a stop on the Nike 7V7 tournament in Beaverton, OR, Marcus got some great news.
"I was able to get in touch with Coach Chip Kelly and he offered me a scholarship to play at the University of Oregon. We talked about the fan base, the facilities, and just a little about my film. I hear the stadium is pretty awesome too. I got the offer within a few hours of the end of the tournament," said Marcus.
Marcus was able to confirm a recent "top 5 in progress" that he is putting together. So far he identified three schools that will be in it Oregon, Penn State, and North Carolina. There are still several schools vying for those final two spots. South Carolina and Florida State are thought to be the favorites for the final two spots. He recently visited Rutgers with teammate Chas Dodd who committed while on their visit.
Right now the plan is to take some visits, two during his season and three after hopefully. He intends on making his college choice known the day before national signing day.
Duckterritory.com will continue to follow up with Marcus on any new developments.

Hopefully he gets excited enough about Oregon to silent to the coaches, if he is actually going to delay the 'official' announcement to the day before NLOI Day.

Re: Per Scout, Lattimore Offered
I read that elsewhere about his recent visit to Rutgers and his teammate committing to them. My question is: How the hell did they do that during a dead period? No contact is allowed in person between coaches and PSAs on or off campus. At least that is my understanding, and the dead period doesn't end until the beginning of August. Maybe I have my dates wrong...?tonyd wrote:Here's a short confirmation on the offer and top 5 in an article from Jhop. It's premium but I'll link it here for the DA faithful...

Right. My question was more about the visit. They can have zero interaction with any member of the staff. Did they just go walk around campus and then call the coach and commit? Never saw him or get shown around the facilities or nothing? It just seems weird is all.uodux1212 wrote:Im pretty sure a recruit can contact a coach at any time?!?
