Oregon just offered. Avery Pattterson went to the same school as Erick Dargan.
He sounds like a big hitter, and we know how much Oregon loves to recruit punishing safeties.

I for one prefer coverage safeties to big hitters. But I also trust the coaches. Hope we land him.

Interesting that ESPN lists him as a running back... The end of this video does show him picking off a couple passes, besides laying some wood.
Wasn't JJ originally a DB?
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiti ... son%3d2010
According to MaxPreps, Dargan had 99 carries, for 769 yards (7.7 YPC), and 11 TDs, as well as 7 receptions for 61 yards abd 3 TDs.
On defense, Dargan had 44 unassisted tackles, 28 assists (72 total), 1 sack, 3 INTs, 2 fumbles caused, and 2 fumble recoveries.
Sounds like he can play either way...

I would like to see us grab a few more quality DB's. You can never have to many DB's playing in the Pac-10

JJ was always a RB for UO, but I think SC recruited him as a DB. You may be thinking of Whitehead.

IIRC, he was being recruited by several other schools (i.e. Nebraska & USC) as a safety, but ultimately chose Oregon since they would give him a chance at RB first.brich75 wrote:Whithead was a linebacker first i think?buckmarkduck wrote:JJ was always a RB for UO, but I think SC recruited him as a DB. That description sounds more like Allan Amundson. I think Whitehead was recruited primarily as a safety or linebacker but was forced into the RB role by circumstances beyond his control.
