Out with the old and in with the new. They just keep getting younger dont they folks? Well this year we are starting out with the old salts that are keeping the college game so great. We start in the small town of Eugene, Oregon where a guy named Fred Jones is lighting up non conference play.

Fred Jones, what this guy?

No you daft fool, he ran out of eligibility back in the 70s, this Fred Jones:

With Arizona losing many of their top players from their championship squad the Pac-10 is wide open and if Ernie Kent can lead the dark horse Oregon squad to become the best in the west he will be mounting Jones. This high flier is a scoring machine is putting up over twenty points and five rebounds with a solid four assists thrown in the mix. This G/F soars over his competition and has simply dominated in non-conference play. This Senior looks like on to make some noise all season long.

With the freshman grabbing the headlines, (I know, teases, but hey you blame me?) it is time to continue to look at the old salts with a look at another senior making good use of his education. Today we turn our attention from the West to the East, the Southeast to be specific. The rock behind Kentucky's runs deep into the tournament these past few years has been anchored by one man. The win has been a model of consistency and been putting up 17/6 for seemingly forever with ease (or at least the last two seasons which in college ball might as well be forever). That scoring machine goes by the named Tayshaun Prince.

Image

He might be the most consistent player you will find right now in college ball. He has been a regular on every all-American lists this year and last and looks to do the same. As one of the early favorites for the Naismith award he looks to be one of the real gems in the college game right now. He has been tearing up a very tough non-conference schedule and, given his track record, should keep this up all season and right into the high lottery.

A rumor out of the Big East has been swirlling and picking up steam over the past few days. Dwayne, Wade, a sophomore out of Marquette University made a post on his myspace page that seemed to indicate that he was quite tired of the antics of his head coach. The post in question has been removed but the internet sure took notice. Many have been speculating that Wade, his team's leading scorer at 16ppg, may be looking at leaving early unless things improve in the locker room. Wade, out of Illinois, has been rumored to be interested last year as well but at least this round of speculation may have a grain of truth, only time will tell.

I hear that Wade is a huge fan of AIM, but only when he gets the free discs in the mail.

The early entrant deadline is looming close and a number of names are still out there. Wade, Dalembert, Chandler, amongst others. We shall see in the coming days just whom is staying and who is going.

Now that all the prelim are moving to a head we can now being to roll out the early entrant list for this coming draft. Expect the list to come out over the next three days and while it will be mostly accurate dont be shocked if there are some late surprises or withdraws.
