Bryan Bennet
I'm pretty happy with this guy for this year.
Why take another QB in the same class. Why not one next year?

Re: Bryan Bennet
I agree taking 2 this year would be nice. For two simple reasons. First off no more what a guys stats are in high school.. it is just high school and not all recruits make good college players. Look at Cameron Colvin. He was one of the top receivers coming in .. in his class and was plagued by injuries. Secondly.. competition never hurt anyone if anything kaes person better. If we get 2 qb's then will be happy. I am not saying Bennet will not be a good qb for us but am not putting all my eggs in one basket thinking he will be one to replace Thomas after Thomas is gone. He might be.. he might not be.

Re: Bryan Bennet
Because after Masoli's class leaves, we're down to two QB's at this point, including Bennett.

Competition will make Bryan and whoever else they get better. All
of these kids know that from here on out its about competing for the
job and that is a good thing.

Re: Bryan Bennet
Hines is right, 2 is a must with Roper leaving. Redshirt them both preferably. Costa is still a question mark and Hawkins is not a QB. Plus Masoli and Costa are seniors next year.

because we still have a shot at both Munchie and Andrew Gonzalez
"Huard's gonna go back to throw the ball. Sets up, looks, throws towards the corner of the endzone. It is... INTERCEPTED! INTERCEPTED! THE DUCKS HAVE THE BALL! Down to the 35! The 40! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!!! 20! THE 10! TOUCHDOWN!!! KENNY WHEATON, AN INTERCEPTION!!! THE MOST IMPROBABLE FINISH TO A FOOTBALL GAME!!!"

I thought the same thing but Chip promised Bryan that he wouldn't offer any other QBs. I think Munchie will be a Duck but if we were to miss on him and Gonzales I wonder if the coaches would have broken that promise and went after some other guys.hines wrote:we HAVE to take 2 qb's this year. In 2011 we would have Thomas, Hawkins, Bennett and a freshman or two as emergency backup. That's if Costa can't get a 6th year or Masoli gets hurt and gets a RS...
It's not impossible for us to take one only this year. I would prefer two though, and one next year.

Re: Bryan Bennet
from what i read awhile ago chip said he wouldn't recruit any new qb's other than the ones he had already offered. i think he did offer a couple of guys though that didnt have an offer previously because we missed on a couple of the big name guys. could be wrong though.

Why on earth would a coach promise any player that, let alone someone that isn't officially even a duck yet? That makes no sense. Plus, there is a good chance that Munchie or Gonzalez is better than Bennett.

Re: Bryan Bennet
To get the kid to commit. What kid would want to come here if he thought we were going to recruit some 5* stud and he would never get a chance to play? He probably saw the guys we have offers out to, or was told by Chip, and felt comfortable competing with those guys for playing time when their time comes.duckgrad99 wrote:Oracle wrote:I thought the same thing but Chip promised Bryan that he wouldn't offer any other QBs. Sadly you can never trust a verbal commit. West Virginia did the same thing last year promising Tahj Boyd they would not recruit any other QB's. Tahj then blew up and got a lot more attention all the while WV kept their word and didn't pursue other QB's. Ask WV how that turned out for them and how their QB recruiting class in 09 was.

Re: Bryan Bennet
Didn't West Virginia sign QB Eugene Smith in the last recruiting class? He was a 4-star QB and the #3 ranked dual-threat QB (Rivals) and #12 ranked QB overall (Scout) in the country, so things didn't turn out too badly for them.lukeyrid13 wrote:Sadly you can never trust a verbal commit.
