2 weeks til gameday... (player predictions)
Only 2 weeks! I can't believe it's almost here, now lets get some Oregon predictions going:
* Which offensive player will have a break out season?
* Which defensive player will have a break out season?
* Which newcomer player will do best this season?
I'll post mine later...

Offensive: LMJ. I think there's too much hype surrounding Blount and Masoli to say that they could be 'breakout' players unless they go nuts and put up Heisman-worthy numbers. So I think LMJ. I also thought about Cavaille, seeing as how most average fans still don't really know who he is and he's been doing great, but I think LMJ will be more important to our offense than Cavaille will be.
Defensive: Eddie Pleasant. He's extremely fast, so I think he'll get involved in some picks this year. He also has a good nose for the ball. I think he'll have a year similar to Spencer Paysinger's last year. I also considered Tukuafu for this, but I worry he'll get double-teamed too much this year.
Newcomer: Hm... I think Tuinei. For as much hype as Gaines and Jackson have gotten, it's been Tuinei that has been getting the best reviews. Now, that has a lot to do with the injuries to Gaines and D-Jax, and I think they both have a lot of potential, but Tuinei's my pick. I think he's going to be a huge red zone threat, and apparently he's put on weight and is blocking well now too.

Sleeper = QB: Nate Costa; Possibly takes over in few key games due to Masoli injury, or even the rest of the year. And guess what, if this happens, our Offense actually gets more efficient and scores more points! :O

* Which offensive player will have a break out season?
Lamichael James. There's an obvious void for a #2 RB. James will not only fill this void, but I believe he will have a big season and will rush for 600+ yards behind Blount. My other offensive player to watch out for is Jamere Holland. Outside of Maehl, we clearly lack experience at WR. Holland is gonna have close to 1,000 receiving yards this season as long as he's healthy.
* Which defensive player will have a break out season?
Talmadge Jackson III. The last time we had a III DB come to Oregon, he was pretty impressive and is now arguably one of the best players on our team (referring to Walter Thurmond III). Jackson has talent written all over him and I think he'll come up big this season. Also watch out for Eddie Pleasant like many others have said, seems like he has the physical tools to be a force.
* Which newcomer player will do best this season?
Jackson Rice. Someone needs to fill Syria's shoes, and Rice will be that guy.

With Barner taking reps at RB occasionally, I don't think he'll see much time on defense. TJ Ward had a breakout season last year, so if he has a breakout season this year, I'll expect to see him on the All American squad.Duckxing wrote:* Which offensive player will have a break out season?

Good call on Holland TK. I think he's another guy with a big chance to break out.

Re: 2 weeks til gameday... (player predictions)
I have been away most of the day. Here is who am looking at and it pretty much is the same as most everyone here.
Offensive Player LaMichael James. I said after watching him at practice the guy is fast. Get him mismatched and throw pass to him and boom he will be gone. This might be a common theme for him till people see how fast he is.
Defensive Player.. Eddie Pleasant. Her made it onto special teams and impressed Bellotti his first year. Think he will make a big impact.
Newcomer.. Tuinei.. I think might have been Jackson but his durability so far is a question. yet to see how he practices.

Re: 2 weeks til gameday... (player predictions)
Offensive Breakout: Holland. We need a WR to step up this year. We have tons of talent but almost all of it is unproven. I think Holland becomes that go-to-guy for Masoli. He has the speed obviously to go long every down but also the toughness to be a possesion guy catching the short passes. And obviously with that speed he could take every single one of those all the way.
Defensive Breakout: Glasper. Dude has all the talent. Speed, strength & size. If he stays healthy he will be another shutdown corner to along with Thurmond & gain some attention going into the draft.
Newcomer: I would say Tuinie but we have so many WRs even if he's playing great who knows how many touches he'll get. I'll say Littlejohn. Dude is a beast & already the first guy off the bench at LB. Can play all 3 spots with his combination of size & speed. As long as he continues to get the playbook down, he'll be a huge contributer.
