Ethan Grant not so solid on Oregon?

I knew it was too good to be true. I guess the feelings he had when he interviewed with that Florida radio station where he said "I fell in love with Oregon" and "I know this school is the one, no other school will compare to it", have worn off a bit.

*Those probably aren't the EXACT words he used, but they're close.

Not worried at all, this is a great experience for him. Live it up then be a Duck!

Did you read the article? He said he's flip-flopping and his "mind is on a roller-coaster". Sounds like it's time to worry now.

f***.

I am not concerned yet. This is an article by a biased Minnesota writer. He is going to take all of his officials and realize nothing compares to Oregon and sign his LOI to be a Duck!

You can't dismiss every article because it comes from a writer for another school. Ethan Grant said he's flip-flopping. Not the writer, Grant. Until I hear differently from our insiders, I'm pretty worried.

I am with you. At this point, I am doubting that he ends up a duck. I think another school will sell him on being their top back and he will go for it. Like it or not, getting a commitment from a higher rated back will probably end up sending him elsewhere.

Wouldn't Grant fill the same role as LaMichael James? If so getting a commitment from a big back shouldn't be a problem, although the prospect of playing behind James for three years might.

If Grant decides to go to Minnesota or TCU than it is because he would be the man there, whereas here at Oregon he will have to compete against LMJ and it sounds like Dontae Williams and maybe even Lattimore. Besides If it came down to Lattimore or Grant I would rather have Lattimore. The thing with Grant is he wasn't highly recruited in the beginning and now there are a number of schools looking at him. He committed very early and realizes he now has a chance to look at other schools so he is going to do that, he would be stupid to waste that opportunity. If he didn't he could end being like Chris Harper and not happy with his decision and end up leaving anyways, I would rather not have him in the first place if that were the case. He is going to making another visit to Eugene so that is a good thing to refresh his mind what he could miss out on if he chose to go to Minnesota or somewhere else. That being said I would love to be like USC and stock up on RB's and get Grant, Lattimore and Williams!!! 8-)

GO DUCKS!!!

Less than a week and the Pony's are going down on the smurf turf!!!!

On a side not I know Grant is a different type of back than Williams and Lattimore but the coaches are going to play whoever is producing regardless of the type of back they are, it just usually works best when interchanging a smaller faster back and a bigger stronger back.

This kind of makes me laugh. What happened to his uncle coming out and saying that Ethan was solid?? Remember that? Its Jerry Macquire. "My word is oak"

Would anyone be that disappointed if he does decommit? I mean don't get me wrong, he's a good prospect but with James and Barner both being red-shirt freshman at the Lazer position, he's not THAT big of a need.

I guess I don't see the difference between this article and the article that came out over 3 months ago saying he was looking around. He wasn't committed then and he isn't commited now, what's the story?

Why doesn't primedime post on this message board any longer? Hopefully he comes back since he knows the real scoop with Ethan. I think his last post on here was back in early June. Here is what he had to say back then when the board was worried about Ethan possibly choosing Tennessee. Obviously a lot can change over the course of a couple months, but let's hope his words still ring true...
primedime wrote:just relax everyone, he would be shorting himself if he didn't listen to what all schools have to say... in the end he will be a duck, for now he is just window shopping.... the main reason is that a lot of people doubt him down here in florida and he wants to prove to everyone he can play anywhere... if he didn't go out to camps and prove himself we would have guys like LStamp from soflafootball.com saying how overrated he is... when he gets here he will be a proven hot commodity and it will make Oregon look that much better...
Minnesota is hell on earth during the winter. I would have to seriously question Ethan's sanity if he were to choose to spend the next 4-5 years there.

I am not too worried. Worried, sure, but with James and Barner only freshman and the need this year is for bigger backs it will be ok. That said, I still am sticking to the thought that Grant will be in Eugene come June.

you can never have too much speed! ;)

But you are right, Grant is more of a luxury at this point. Dontae is much more of a need. I think in general, I just hate seeing players decommit from Oregon.
