Strange situation.

Reportedly, he hadn't heard from Taggart at all, until perhaps recently.

This may sound full-homer, but it makes sense if Willie stops in for a visit to apologize, that they are full at his position.

Keeps the HS coaches respecting the Ducks, etc.

Also possible that the above is mental gymnastics from a true believer.

Who knows, but he is a Ground Zero kid and friends with other commits/targets. Don't want to f that up.
