QUACK! OR LB MJ Cunningham commits
Fast-rising OR LB MJ Cunningham has just committed to the Ducks. He's a diamond-in-the-rough guy who's only going to get better now that he's playing LB full-time and not trying to be a QB/ATH on offense.

All of his highlights are of him playing QB but I've heard he impressed at camps playing LB.

He's also changed his body now that he's at a school that takes FB seriously. Someone over on DT said he dropped 20 lbs of fat but also put on around 30 lbs of muscle due to Madison's S&C program. If he keeps progressing, he could end up being a 4* guy by the time his SR season is over.Phenom wrote:All of his highlights are of him playing QB but I've heard he impressed at camps playing LB.

Matt Prehm tweeted out that after watching him this weekend he is a top 5 player in the state and should be a 4 star. To be fair, Matt thinks every Oregon kid should be a 4*.brich75 wrote:Matt Prehm tweeted out that after watching him this weekend he is a top 5 player in the state and should be a 4 star. New article from DT about the timeline of his commitment to Oregon. Looks like it was a pretty short recruitment and the Ducks really have Braden Lenzy to thank for getting him down for a visit so he could meet the coaches.

That is pretty funny to think someone said that in all seriousness.greenyellow wrote:He's also changed his body now that he's at a school that takes FB seriously. 6'3 - 230 lbs... Love the size. Hope he can run and has a nose for the ball if he's going to play LB.

I like it. I know someone people don't care about keeping guys in-state and would rather just take best player available nationally, but I like always reaping in the majority of the top 5 state players every year. And maybe in the mid 2000s I wouldn't have such a strong opinion, but the way our state talent has been trending the past few years, it's wise to give a strong first pass to the in-state guys first.
Look at the top guys from the state last year, none signed with us:
Marlon Tuipulotu (USC)
Elijah Molden (Washington)
Connor Neville (Washington State)
David Morris (Oregon State)
Daniel Green (Kansas State)
Jaxson Kirkland (Washington)
Demetrius Douglas (Minnesota)
Brandon Pili (USC)

Losing the top 2 players on this list hurt us the most. They both could of helped us on the defensive side of the ball.UOducksTK1 wrote:I like it. Re: QUACK! OR LB MJ Cunningham commits
I don't think Elijah hurt as much because we got at least 2 CBs that are better than him (3, if you count Redd). Marlon hurt.
Most of the other guys we didn't offer or weren't hard after.
