Can someone remind me why we didn't offer Colin Schooler?

That dude was a beast against the Ducks. He's a true freshman and I can only dream of what he would have looked like next to Dye.

Yes is his brother.
He wanted an offer and Ducks never offered, so he chose UA.

His 24/7 page shows that we did, I initially was going to say “probably because his brother isn’t that good.” Sure he started in most games at safety last year but he’s been moved to WR and doesn’t start there.
However, his brother is really highly touted so I really am not sure what happened there.
He also went to Mission Viejo which has some decent names coming out of it from time to time. Definitely a whiff but eh, what can ya do?

Neither of the staffs offered. Looking like a miss.

It's a mystery, but frankly looks like an evaluation whiff. Our other targets don't looks that good. If Brenden doesn't get many more catches or gets passed up next year, I would imagine he would transfer to Arizona if he can graduate early.

He doesn't need to graduate early. He can transfer at the end of this year, sit out a year, and be in his brothers class for their Junior and Senior years. I've felt he will transfer to Arizona since the beginning of October when Colin became a starter. They already have a history of transferring since High School.

Evaluation whiff. We had Sampson Niu, and were selective on getting another backer, but simply overvalued the wrong guys. Leavitt and Taggart missed here.

I know, but he will probably be a graduate transfer.

Both staff's passed, as mentioned. I heard rumblings that the new staff was not that big of a fan of the job the older Schooler did at safety. That might have something to do with it. But ultimately, every staff is whiffing on lots of kids. Some who commit, some who don't. If we didn't already have his brother, none of us would care that much.
Remember, no college wanted his brother, and very few wanted Colin. Not sure why, but that is unusual too considering their high school league and their success.

Too be honest he semi stood out on a horrible defense last year and to me is a terrible WR. Yes I know it's a new position for him so I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he becomes something. With all these WR's coming in though I highly doubt he plays much unless he greatly improves. As for his brother he is standing out on a pretty bad defense and I don't remember seeing him make many plays last week anyways so I don't think it's that big of a loss.

Schooler hasnt been too impressive on both sides of the ball. But he has performed pretty well on special teams.

I can see why nobody wanted Brenden, he comes out to play but I think it was quite clear that his success last year was a product of a really poor defence. Should that weigh in his brothers recruitment? Absolutely not, but if it did, meh can’t do much about it now.
The difference between the two for me (after watching the game) is you see and hear about Colin and not just because the PAC12 didn’t shut up about it all game long. Brenden was kinda quiet for the most part and his “big plays” were off of errant throws or real bad tackling.
EDIT: I’m on mobile and didn’t see the second page, the other posters pretty much summed up my thoughts.

To those unimpressed with Colin Schooler, which freshman Oregon linebacker would you take over Schooler right now? Frankly, which linebacker other than Dye would you take over Schooler right now?
