FMR Duck Keanon Lowe named Head Coach at Parkrose

Sounds great having a former Duck become an in-state coach, be better if Parkrose hadn't lost its last 23 games.

but, not sure you can count on him to help UO. He was very vocal about the MH and staff firing and was very upset his brother was not heavily recruited by UO. Remains to be seen if he has softened his views.Merganzer wrote:http://highschoolsports.oregonlive.com/ ... all-coach/

Good for him. I wonder if he's even 25 yet and already a HC.

I just posted this in the Autzen stadium section, since I didn't think this would be in the recruiting section

I am not sure which is a bigger challenge for him...eliminating the mentality and culture of losing or keeping his talent from leaving to a school like Central Catholic. Transfers have been one of Parkrose's biggest Achilles heels. They were always terrible when I played them in both football and basketball, hard to be successful when your best players get recruited to slide over to a locally premier school like CC.

My thoughts also, I wonder how young he is....... but what a great opportunity and start for a young man.lukeyrid13 wrote:Good for him. I wonder if he's even 25 yet and already a HC.

Put private schools in their own leagues. It only gets worse the further down in classifications that you go and some schools have become nothing more than boys athletic schools who can't field girls teams.mrpd21 wrote:I am not sure which is a bigger challenge for him...eliminating the mentality and culture of losing or keeping his talent from leaving to a school like Central Catholic. Are high school coaches still required to teach a subject in school? In my day it seems that most were PE or math instructors.

No but a lot are coaches because of the familiarity and ease of the schedule.Alan wrote:Are high school coaches still required to teach a subject in school? In my day it seems that most were PE or math instructors.

A few thoughts:
* Congrats to Keanon Lowe.
* Lowe needs to bury the hatchet with U of O. He's been kind of a jerk.
* This is a difficult job, Parkrose is incredibly poor. In Oregon, the average income of the students parents has a strong correlation with football success.
* Football coaches don't have to teach a class anymore. For example, Chris Miller at West Linn doesn't even have a college degree.
* Having private schools in their own league is a non-starter. Jesuit and Central Catholic are the only two of consequence, we don't have the population or number of private schools like the places where those are in their own league.
* Congrats to Keanon Lowe.

Totally agree Lowe needs to bury the hatchet with UO. He actually looked a little silly with that whole thing.
I like him and hope he has matured.

I saw Keanon Lowe's tweets where he went after Bri Amaranthus (sp) on twitter for basically no reason. He needs to grow up. Kind of reminds me of Joey Harrington with the "Do you know who I am?" mentality....

I would link you, but I just tried to find it only to discover that Keanon has blocked me. I 'liked' a comment by Brianne that said "It's signing day and I cover Oregon sports. Your public Instagram video is relevant and fair game. I would have done the same thing pre-Bachelor, because it's my job. What's the big deal? You supporting your brother is nothing to be ashamed of." and apparently that is why he blocked my account.
Yea, he has some maturation to do. That's some incredibly thin skin.
