Why exactly are people complaining?

So we lose out on a coupe recruits? Boo hoo.
Oregon will never be a perennial top 10 recruiting school, until we continuously make BCS bowl games.
We are headed in the right direction, but not there yet.
As far as I am concerned, our class is sick nasty. 3 FOUR * Linebacker recruits?!?! Are you kidding me? Just 2 years ago we would have taken just ONE 4* LB and been happy.
Our coaches know who to take and who to offer. If you haven't noticed, most of our studs are 3* and below.
Of course, I'd love to have a top 10 class, but it is just not realistic at this stage in the game.
2010 is looking great, and it could happen there, but we need to keep producing.
I just got done watching Ethan Grant's highlight and WHOA...speed kills, and to think of the pipeline we could be setting down there as well? Patience my fellow Ducks..Patience.
We went 10-3 after losing A 1st round pick and a would be consensus pre-season All-American in Stewart and a Heisman caliber quarterback.
We've lost players before and we will continue to lose players. As much as it sucks, losing Byrd is a good thing in the LONG TERM. Anytime you get players who are good enough to leave early, you're program is on the rise and you are going to gain a reputation of putting players in the League, which is a huge selling point.
So if we lose out on Bryce Brown, don't fret, when has Oregon ever been weak at the running back position in the MB era?
Lose out on Tahj? Sucks, but DT is waiting in the wings ( a former LSU verbal) and Chip is going to get a 5* QB somewhere soon, whether it is in the 09 class or 10', it's going to happen.
Leon and other JC guys can't get into Oregon? It happens to every school, just deal with it. We are more than capable of finding replacements.
What I am saying is this isn't Oregon football circa 99-01..we do not rebuild, we RELOAD damnitt!

People are complaining because we don't have a game every week now. Just like wanting a win every week during the season, we want a recruiting victory as well.
I want to complain because this is not going like I thought it would. Oregon has been losing out on some great talent because of miscommunication from within. Why didn't anybody look at the transcripts of these transfer students to see if they qualified. This has been a waste of time recruiting these guys just to get to this point and have nothing.

Nobody is saying that they don't expect the ducks to do well in the future. Recruiting is so up and down though that complaining comes with the territory. No matter who's fault it is, it's frustrating when a big time recruit shows interest in Oregon and then doesn't end up there for whatever reason. Doesn't mean things aren't interesting. :P

If we all miss out on them in 09, that give 2010 recuirts chance to see they can start right away or complete for starting spot for Ducks.

IMO we need to win the PAC-10 to push this thing with recruiting over the edge.
Most of these kids were in grade school the last time some team other than USC won the conferance. Say PAC-10, it's all USC to most of them.
Yeah, we have great facilities, coaches, support staff, etc., the distance is a factor, but the Ducks don't have that recent crown.
That is one reason I'd like Bellotti to stick around at least one more year, USC has some chinks in the arnour this year, it's very doable goal but will take a maximum effort from all with the talent we have.

In the meantime it is a slow push, which the program has been successful at.
I agree though 5-10 years ago 5* kids were rarely considering the program, but it's coming.
