ASU @ #15 Cal (Fri., 7:30 pm, ESPN)

An opportunity for Cal to try and show that its ranking is legitimate. I can't see ASU winning in Berkeley, but I noticed that a couple of you are picking the Sun Devils on the Pac-12 prediction thread on the main board. I guess I kind of want Cal to win so that next week's Bears-Ducks game at Autzen would involve two pretty highly-ranked teams.

I'm happy either way. I'm all for mayhem in the north and an easier path to the Rose Bowl, but a top 15 matchup next week would be pretty cool.

10000000% guaranteed that they blow it. Like USC vs BYU and Utah crapping the bed against USC, there are certainties in college football you can see coming from a mile away and Cal losing tonight is one of them. I hope to god I’m wrong because I want a top 15 matchup with Gameday potentially in Eugene but I trust Cal about as much as I trust a Devon Williams/Chris Steele commitment.

Cal did nothing on the first possession; ASU received the punt and ran a balanced offense down the field, Eno Benjamin with a very impressive 11 yard run for the touchdown. 7-0.

Cal QB Garbers takes a hard hit comes down on his throwing shoulder, about 1:30 left in the first half, definitely questionable for return to game. Back up comes in, throws interception.

Garbers leaves game right before half with injury, backup qb throws pick in endzone so 7-7 at half

Bears keep it all on the ground, 12 play drive ends with a TD to take 14-7 lead. One of the runs came on 3rd down when the snap almost got away from the back up and he turned the broken play in to a first and goal.

Benjamin ties it at 14-14 with his 2nd rushing TD of the game.

Bears offense definitely suffering with Garbers on the bench, 47 yard FG gives Bears 17-17 lead with 10:50 to go in 4th quarter.

Garbers sitting on bench with shoulder in sling. TD trifecta for Benjamin gives ASU, 21-17 lead,

Modster threw the ball well while he was still at UCLA--I wouldn't count on him to look awful.
