Poaching UW after the Peterson announcement

Obviously, it's way too early to assess the impact of Peterson stepping down at UW on their recruiting class. That being said, I figured we could start a speculation and information thread regarding any and all efforts to poach any of their recruits.
I'd personally love to see Mario immediately on the phone with Smalls and Roger Rosengarten. I have no idea if we'd still have any shot with either of them, but those would be my choice two recruits to try and pluck.
If any information becomes available worth sharing, please share away and #scoducks!

I have a hard time seeing Smalls leaving as Jimmy Lake, the current OC, is taking over as head coach after this season. I imagine they should be able to keep all of their defensive recruits. As for offensive, sure, why not go after Rosengarten? He'll probably end up staying at Washington though.

Yeah, not sure who we would even want. Rosengarten for sure. Maybe Murao?

Isn't Lake only the interim HC?

Not according to this from ESPN regarding Lake's salary........."He will receive a five-year contract that starts at $3 million and raises to $3.4 million for the 2024 season, according to a memorandum of understanding from the school."

Got it. I still wonder if there is any room with Smalls? I mean, he will be playing under a new DC now, even though Lake will be the HC.

Lake is a great recruiter. Smalls wont be swayed by this IMO

Smalls is their only highly rated recruit on the defensive side(at least last time I checked). If Lake makes a change at OC some of those commits might flip. We just don’t have a lot of space.

What I would do is be grateful the leadership at UW made this decision prior to any recruit signing on the dotted line. This shows a tremendous amount of respect to you (the parent of a PSA) & the student-athlete.
UW does everything above board. I also agree, Lake will be great!
OOO000ooo-kay.
Hold onto that thought!

Smalls committed to UW because of Lake, in spite of Petersen. Ship sailed on Rosengarten.
Long term this is good for UW recruiting. Unless Lake bombs. But I’m sure our guys are being diligent.

They’re saying McMillan(wr) could flip to ND. He’s their highest rated recruit on offense. It’s going to be interesting to see if Lake can hold the class together. Also, are there going to be any transfers?
