I hope you all are safe.

Good for you, Duck07.
I've been helping several households around Dexter and Pleasant Hill... If those of us who are capable would help with a few others, things would be going a lot smoother for everyone.

It's been tough to not be able to do more when you see people in need and knowing that the fires on the eastern edge of so many of our largest cities are getting closer. I've already told friends/family that if something were to force us to evacuate South that we'd simply go camp out on the Dunes and get as much space between the forest and towards the ocean. If we have to go North we might just walk down to the beach. I know some of the logging roads on the coast that lead to the valley but they can present their own challenges in a fire that can make them an even worse choice.
While its improving for us on the Coast its only getting worse in the valley. Anyone who has to be outside needs to have a filtered mask; the cloth panties won't cut it with how hazardous the air quality is.

I'm about ready to leave for the Springfield HS donation center to drop off clothes and toiletries. I was without power from Tuesday night until early this morning so this is really my first day to go do something to help. I spent much of my days in school going up to the McKenzie area for sporting events and have known people who've lived up there so I figured this is the least I can do.

Last two evenings have been spent moving family's belongings into storage in preparation of the fire potentially reaching Sandy.
If anyone knows someone who needs a place to go, we have a couple spare rooms here in Portland.

It is heart warming to see the actions of people during these fires. My youngest son may need to evacuate his place in Oregon City, level two, he knows they have a place here but his three brothers also have offered so I am sure he will end up with another one of my sons, as long as he and his family is safe. We have a couple of young people Who brought in there RV and are here waiting it out on our RV pad plus we have a farm so have taken in some horses and a couple of pigs. Lots of livestock in the danger zone need temporary homes also pulse people with trailers to help haul them. Rain can’t come soon enough! Stay safe all!

My son spent the night sorting donation deliveries at Springfield HS, last night.
My wife is teaching a young family how to can and preserve produce for after this mess is over. The people they got most of the produce from have had a larger garden than their needs require for years, and open it up to the general neighborhood in situations like this so people who don't have the space or ability to do so can help meet their family's needs.
Most who contributes for the good of the community will likely never receive recognition from the media or general public, but those in need will appreciate it.

My wife and daughter went out first thing yesterday morning to walgreens. Wife is
addicted i think to coupons and worked deals i guess you call them. Bought a couple
doz tooth pastes and brushes, body washes etc then went to mcdonalds tried to order
40 sandwiches and was turned away kinda rudely. Went to burger king, the one girl working
there didn't hesitate on making 40 croissants in 20 minutes took them to springfield high
school. the volunteers were really happy getting a hot item to eat. It wasnt much to my
wife but it was help. In her words it was the right thing to do.
No matter peoples differnces we all need to come together in these trying times

Man crazy to hear some of your stories. I have a lot of close friends who were in phase 1/2. Also my family in Medford had to evacuate too. Insane how many fires there are...
