2021 Commitment Highlights

I'm trying to get more acquainted with the new and old commitments, so as they post stats and game film from their respective seasons, I'm going to drop in links and will probably add some commentary.
Quarterbacks always headline a class, so here is Ty Thompson from week 1. The good is that he made a variety of throws both from the pocket and on the move, leading his team to a comfortable victory. The bad is that he stares down his receiver on every single play of his game highlights. Each time, he makes only one read, when he gets to college, safeties are going to eat his lunch and fans are going to pull their hair out as he doesn't see wide open receivers.
I also watched Jadarrius Perkins this week. One of the things I remembered from watching his freshman tape is his penchant for holding receivers. In this 'highlight,' Jadarrius actually includes a play where he's flagged for holding at the 1:00 mark. I'm not sure why. Watching the plays, he not-infrequently is slow to flip his hips and latches onto receivers. His ability to run with anyone and his strength is not a question for me. But I do think he is a walking holding pass interference at this point, which concerns me because the pac-12 is obviously going to challenge his cover skills more than community college. Early in the highlights, Perkins does get a pick by getting his head around and spotting an under thrown ball.
Last player I watched so far was Terell Tilmon. Tilmon looks like he's packed on some serious weight since last season. Eyeballing it, I'd guess he's up from 200 flat to around 230. So my first question was whether he's maintained his explosiveness, as he's an exceptionally athletic edge defender. From what I can see in just this one tape is the extra strength to support the run and get a push on OL is very noticeable. In terms of speed, it's possible that he's lost a little bit of speed, but I can't say with certainty yet and wouldn't say he looks slow by any stretch. He has some plays with his hand in the ground and some standing up, and it does make me wonder if he does project better as a WDE than OLB. Who knows. (Not me)
There are a number of other Oregon commits playing in their seasons already, and I'll post as I get time to watch.
