i think OL, WR is addressed in this class. LB had bad luck this year with all the injuries (Flowe, Navarette, LaDuke).

I respectfully disagree on Rutherford being "a dude." He ran a 4.7 40 out of high school and only saw garbage time at ND and it's because that's where his skill level is. Could be good for depth, but he'd be similar to picking up Happle.

Someone on another thread brought up Nigel Knott, who transferred to ECU then sat out. I went through 247s transfer portal listings and didn't see any home runs, but if James can come into his own next year, and I think he can, we really just need 2 cornerbacks who can be good in limited snaps because the starters will be solid.

I have to think donte will be strong. I know it’s on potential, you have to like his chances.

I thought knott got hurt? I liked him when he was a recruit (primarily because of the flip catch).

He did medically retire, then came back last year at ECU. But like the other person said, he sat out for ECU now hit the portal

Roger Cray, Western Kentucky. 2 INTs this season. Graded out very high with PFF. I watched his high school tape and kid was just an overlooked prospect probably because he played for a no-name school in Florida and only stands about 5-8 or 5-9. However, he has Pac-12 wheels and plays the position really well and I'd take him in a heartbeat.

There are a couple guys who have to sit a year that I would be interested in, too. MJ Devonshire out of Kentucky and Geovonte Howard from Purdue. Might be worth it because Wright probably goes pro after '21.

That was my belief as well

I thought that was just basketball. If that's the case, I'd take any two of the three. Houston Griffith, Notre Dame cornerback who was expected to contend for the starting spot next year, is transferring. I'd take him, but I imagine he's going to play closer to home in Georgia.

I searched through the transfer portal, which is constantly adding and subtracting names. I think an experienced DB, preferably one who is a corner but a safety isn’t too bad either, or a DT/DE would be the position that makes the most sense to add given our needs. Not a project who didn’t work out, but a one year plug and play transfer who can help shore up the defense in 2021.

We’ll see if we even get room to meet the scholarship limit, or if we get more recruits like Perkins or maybe even JTT.

Unfortunately there isn’t a lot at those positions, as both DTs and CBs are a rare type. When you do find someone with great experience and stats there’s always a catch: spinal surgery, arrested for unlicensed concealed handgun, etc.

There are some decent DBs, mostly safeties. A few from Vanderbilt and Kansas stood out. A couple of Clemson DTs that were contributors also showed up recently.

My favorite, production wise, is USF safety/Corner Nick Roberts. In 2.5 seasons he has 175 tackles, 5 INTs and 150 return yards, 9 PDs. Got into an argument with USF’s coach, so not great on the reason for leaving. His stats https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/pl ... rts-1.html

I wasn't sure who this was. Sounds like he grew into a linebacker and was just a backup on a middling defense. Does the staff think we need a middling linebacker? Was highly rated out of high school and hasn't done anything since. Really odd.
