I'm a little surprised there hasn't been a post about all these offers going out, so I'll try to offer a little summary.

The Ducks coaching staff has been extremely active making offers in the 2022 and 2023 classes this last week or so. It seems as though the focus has been on OL and DL, and compared to the Ducks roster (largely California kids), these offers have been from mostly the midwest and south, which I surmise may be do to the availability of film from those kids who have already had 2020-1 football seasons.

Most of these offers are not surprising. Lots of 4* and some 5* kids. I have only watched film on a handful, and most make sense, while one or two has me scratching my head (I'll note below). One that Ducks fans will find particularly interesting -- Ryan Pellum, WR. That's the nephew of longtime Ducks player and coach, Don Pellum.

Crystal Balls- The folks over at 247Sports have logged crystal balls predicting the following players will commit to the Ducks.

Zach Rowell, DE - Encinitas, CA - .8527 (3-star). I watched Zach's tape and I'm a little befuddled as to why the Ducks felt the need to offer, especially this early. Agree with you on Rowell. Seems like a kid we should be offering much later in the cycle after striking out on other more talented prospects.

Thanks STU for putting the list together. I also found interesting the CBs for the OL out of Washington. Washington has a few really highly rated OL next year and Eklund (notorious homer) has them all going to UW.

Hi STU (and everyone else), what's everyone's take on west coast talent this year? I poked around the 247 list a few weeks ago and my takeaway was that there weren't a lot of west coast players that were high ranked. Maybe I wasn't looking carefully enough but that was concerning if it really were the case.

Thankfully we have a national recruiting strategy but it's going to be that much harder to fish talented players out of the midwest or the south.

What is almost guaranteed is that west coast talent, and talent in states that missed a 2020-1 football season generally, is going to be under-scouted and therefore underrated this year. The kids who were overly-mature sophomores in 19-20, and some of the kids who play for the marquee programs, will still draw the attention of recruiters, but they make up only a fraction of top tier talent. In a normal year, there are talented players who get looked over, and I think that number will be grow significantly this year.

I would guess that what will happen is that teams are going to compete really hard for these known commodities in the Midwest and South that had 20-21 seasons, and teams that save spots will have a lot of pleasant surprises when these "late bloomers" start generating game film from their senior seasons. I think it will be important for Oregon and everyone else to hold tight to their standards and not get anxious and offer the best available right now.

Prehm gave one for wr Darrius Clemons from Westview, it will be interesting who they take at wr with all the young guys on the team. How many wr's are they taking 3 or 4?

Lots of local guys, I like it. Clemons, Savaiinaea, and Williams are all Oregonians with offers. We already have Winston.

And a couple guys in Washington too. NW got some good ones this year.

With Rowell, I believe 247 Sports said he's gained around 40 pounds and really improved his athleticism since his sophomore season.

Looks like 247 had a deadline for analysts to have a minimum number of crystal balls in - so a lot of these are just total guesses based on geographic proximity or to satisfy the subscriber base.

It is cool to see one for Cyrus Moss from Blair Angulo, even if it’s only a 2. Moss is 50th overall in the composite and is a future edge rusher with NFL potential.

Tobias Meriweather and Darius Clemons would be nice, I think Meriweather is likelier although he has a sister that runs track at Oklahoma or something. Clemons I think has Midwest ties and went to Utah to play football during the fall.

Andrew Saiivenea is an interesting one, he just moved to Oregon. Before he was in the Seattle area at Eastside Catholic with JTT.

Andrew Savaiinaea would absolutely not be a 3* had there been a season/camps.

Oregon offers a guy who committed to UW in December, and the kid promptly decommits from the Huskies. That might be the best story this week.
