D.WIlliams update

He did not commit over the weekend. His sister talked him to waiting and weighing his options and to see if anymore offers come his way before committing so far from home. He loved the visit and still loves Oregon but has decided to wait.

I can respect that, however if Lattimore, Seastrunk or somebody else pulls the trigger I don't think the coaches take another RB because we are stacked and have needs elsewhere.

Unless he still decides to commit and we have another Aaron/Amanda Pflugrad situation. Then sis is more than welcome.

time to go after

James McConico , get him in for a visit.

Ducks may be looking at JC RB as backup plan, according to the guys at Scout.

Maybe we should have recruited his sister as a package deal...does she play a sport, cheer, band?

His sister didn't have anything to do with it.

DW: "No I didn't commit...and honestly I don't really wanna talk about it."

Me: "Is there anything else you can tell me? I mean when you and I talked at the game I didn't expect this.."

Very fishy IMO. There's way more to this than we know. How can Dontae go from telling all the recruits at the game that he's 100% committed to Oregon, then go to saying he still wants to weigh his options and being not committed.

Why do I have the feeling the coaches told him they need to wait on something, OR perhaps they even turned him away?

This is definitely strange, I'm very confused.

Since jhop on DT said it wasn't a grade issue, my guess is the coaches want Latt or Lache and turn away Dontae.

Only makes sense because he was telling everyone he had committed after the game, but when he got home after he talked to coaches, he was no longer committed?

Wow, based on that, he sounds like a jerk. You either commit or you don't, so it does sound strange.

Something happened when he went to visit CK from everything I've heard. It is very strange.

"Dontae Williams also had a great time but that's according to quotes from McCain, who said in his Scout.com interview that he thought Williams had a meeting of some kind scheduled with Coach Kelly."

hmm, strange. There must be something that coaches know that we dont know about. I think other RB will commit to us if D.Williams didnt commit thats probably why C.Kelly or whoever decide to hold on him. thats my guess, i could be 100% wrong.

I just hope it means that the coaches have another rb in mind that will commit soon.

Well he might have committed, but the coaches could have said no to him. So we really don't know right now.
More than anything, Dontae sounds bummed out, so I'm guessing his non-commitment was due to the duck staff (JUST AN ASSUMPTION).

Yep, pretty clear that the sister storyline is BS. The kid wanted to be a Duck bad and then he meets the coaches and his tune changes dramatically. Seems like it's one of three possibilities:

1. he has academic issues and they told him his offer wasn't 100% until he clears some stuff up,
2. they really think their chances are very good at someone they like better. Lattimore would fit the bill more than Seastrunk. If they're willing to cut loose a player as good as DW, then they must be pretty confident. Would also strongly imply they don't want 3 backs in this class. Grant & someone else would be it.
3. Campbell and Kelly may have simply changed their opinion of Williams and don't feel he's a good fit. This scenario seems unlikely, but can't rule it out entirely.
