Transfer Portal - '21-22

The WR depth (or starters for that matter) is concerning. We need a transfer. I liked the UTEP kid going to Arizona. The good news is WRs are the most plentiful group in the portal. May be worth it to be patient and see what the spring brings. That’s why I’m not a fan of wasting spots on out of shape DL who have done nothing In their careers.

Starters: Kris Hutson, Troy Franklin, Donte Thornton.
Tweener slot/RB: Seven McGee.
???: Josh Delgado, Bryan Addison, Isaah Crocker. Isaiah Brevard.
Incoming: Justius Lowe.

That’s bad. The first three guys are very talented and have some experience. Then not enough info or experience to judge for the next group. Wilhoite is gone, Delgado was injured and not sure on him.

No one has said so - that was just me placing him with the group because he played there before and is better at WR than DB. He did have that gimme (but huge game sealing) interception against Wazzu but he’s not a good DB, or at least wasn’t yet.

I would take Cota over a nobody kicker or a nobody DL. I’d love a better WR, but he’s a good fit. Average at worst as a receiver, major plus blocker, great experience.

Well, you have to assume Cota wants to come to Oregon. They’ve talked to him, but sounds like he’s also looking around at other schools.

After all the rumors and speculation, USC has finally picked up Caleb Williams.

Interesting prospects in the portal, already offered by USC and UCLA: twins Grayson Murphy and Gabriel Murphy from North Texas. 6’2” 235 Edge rushers. Finished 2nd and 5th in conference in sacks - 8.5 and 7.5 and had a combined 9 last year in six games each. Interesting duo.

The transfer portal is nuts. Recruiting players out of high school suddenly seems far less important than capitalizing on the portal.

I dont think they will go there…. I dont have insider info but accusations of domestic violence and subsequent dismissal from usc makes things pretty sensitive.
