A, he's an Executive Producer of a major ESPN program, certainly not a wannabe (this is also a major tangential point about news media in 2021 and beyond but i'm not going there...)
B, it used to be that your reputation mattered and that reporting nonsense was bad for one's career. Now its commonplace for blue-checked journalists to steal someone else's scoop and then re-report it as breaking news. (Say a Fox reporters takes an ESPN scoop and rewords it 30-seconds later so they get the attention, etc)
