There are some big name QBs in the transfer portal. Wonder if Oregon takes a look at some of them.

I really hope the new staff actually has a QB coach that can develop who is already on the roster.

They really need to.

Dillingham was OC at Auburn during Nix’s freshman season.

Nix is expected to join Gus at UCF

I’d rather give Thompson, Butters or Ashford the look.

I probably go Dillon Gabriel first, maybe Slovis 2. I haven't watched Ward or the LSU guys. The OC will make a difference in terms of pecking order, as well.

Slovis was always overrated, because he put up numbers in an air raid offense with 3-4 NFL receivers. Honestly, the list of QBs in the portal isn't really that impressive. Gabriel is a maybe, and perhaps Daniels is worth a look. However, beyond that, I don't really see much I'm interested in.

So our new Coach and OC will have not even watched the 3 back-up QBs in practice. This means they have to decide whether to go after a transfer QB they have game tape and stats on or go with the guys we already have based on what. their recruiting rankings? In their shoes I go after a transfer so you have a known floor in the QB room and hope one of the young ones is better and wins the job.

To start a new coaching era with no idea of what you have at QB is a risk that might make a high profile OC candidate say no thanks, I'll stay where I'm at.

All the QB throws In practice are recorded for however that is worth.

I think that's a fair point and I don't have a problem with taking a transfer QB as a hedge against a bad roster but I don't want one brought in with the idea that they would be the starter.
