As expected, DL Gracen Halton has decommitted. Oregon is still an option but many are pointing to Oklahoma being his likely landing spot.

This really sucks. Staff (Lupoi) took him and Florence bowling and very clearly he was a priority for Oregon. Hurts double because he's a great player in a position of need and is a part of an area (SD) that Oregon has to recruit well to sustain success.

Yeah, this would be a straight up loss by the coaches. Was Venables, or his assistants recruiting him before he took the Oklahoma job? If his staff is as new as Lannings, it’s on the Ducks coaches.

Not everything is on the coaches. They made their play for him and he felt he needed to decommit. Oklahoma did retain some of the past staff so it's not like they're entirely new to Halton. Plus, Clemson was offering plenty of West Coast kids.

Sounds like we didn’t want him actually. Not sure why, but they decided he wasn’t a player they wanted.

Are you sure? I don't want to be a husby board. ("We didn't want him anyway). I think he's pretty mobile for his size.

Interesting. I wonder if they feel that they have enough on the DL or have they prioritised other positions? Tough to tell.

Seems weird the staff would pass on Gracen Halton but would take Sir Mells, or am I missing something?

The staff could have likely "passed" on him because Halton could have told them he's more interested elsewhere too or at least I'd hope that's the case.

Seems Oregon is still looking for a DE.
