Thankfully, everyone has the same challenge but it’s making college basketball less fun to watch for sure.
I feel like the next evolution of the NIL deals is going to basically put in no transfer clauses. That could possibly lead to more stability in the long run.

The ncaa can always stop allowing players to be able to transfer and play right away.
The NCAA is a complete mess and maybe with the Husky gone they can find a competent president.

The reason the NCAA changed that rule was cause they took so much fire for being incredibly inconsistent with how they applied the exception to wait a year. One player would request it just because and the NCAA was like “cool yeah that works” then the next day someone would apply for the exception cause their mom was diagnosed with a terminal illness and he wanted to be closer to his mom and the NCAA would be like “nah doesn’t seem reasonable to me, you have to sit out a year”. Remember Sedona Prince having to sit a year while some Husky player didn’t have to for no reason at all?

It’s the same in all aspects with the NCAA. To require a kid not to transfer to receive an NIL deal is a direct violation of NCAA rules as that would make the NIL deal quid pro quo, so they can’t do that. But then you have Tennessee giving $8M to a player as long as they are “present in Knoxville” which I guess technically isn’t quid pro quo since location does not indicate performance. The NCAA is literally years behind and that’s why we have the mess we have now. NIL deals were not meant to be pay to play, more so for players to take advantage of previous performance and likeness, and there’s been great examples like that St Peter’s player getting that contract from Buffalo Wild Wings.

The reality is the states passing the NIL law expecting the NCAA to fairly enforce it was as dumb as expecting a US President to take blame for a mistake, it was never going to happen. It was passed prematurely and now we have conference presidents in DC begging congress for some sort of guidelines for this because without a governing body it’s gonna get worse before it gets better.

This is really an easy fix but again, the NCAA is beyond incompetent. You add a NIL cap, not salary, but NIL cap, that relates to certain events/likeness. There is a committee that sets the cap and adjusts for inflation and for unique situations investigates and appraises the situation to put a dollar figure on it. Become a high school all American? That’s worth $250k, that way there is a reasonable amount that everyone can agree on. Win the Heisman? That’s $1M. Make it similar to a coach’s contract with bonuses, and make it uniform and reasonable. That way we can ensure players are simply being paid for their likeness/accolades and past performances and it removes the pay to play we currently have.

I could go on and on about this. It’s a mess and I hope it gets fixed soon or it will damage college football.

It'd be big to have two potential lottery picks in Evans and Cook.

Oregon's NIL might be saying its easier to build a Basketball team with its shadow Sneaker Empire than it is with Football. We know from the Adidas scandal that the Sneaker companies are big on the hoops players early in the hope they turn into a Kobe or LeBron for a shoe line.

What’s the reason this commit helps us with Cook?

It's been reported by multiple outlets and in interviews he's given that Cook wanted to play with Evans in college. Cook only decommitted because it looked like Evans was leaning elsewhere. Now that Evans committed to Oregon, look how fast Cook made an announcement date for this Friday.
